Sick of eChecks

I used to be able to use instant transfer, now it only gives me the option of eChecks and I hate them! They are a incredibly annoying, and I don't understand why instant transfer wont work anymore. My shipping address is confirmed and my account is verified. I've purchased many products using instant transfer before, why do I suddenly ONLY get to pay with eCechks, how do I fix this?!

Here's one possible reason:

To send money instantly you must have both a valid credit card (or debit card) and a bank account added to your PayPal account. The money will be debited from your bank as an instant bank transfer while the card acts as a back-up payment method in case the bank transfer fails. If you don’t have a valid debit or credit card registered to your account at the time of payment and if your PayPal balance is not enough to cover the payment, it will be sent as an eCheck instead.

If you have a credit or debit card, check to make sure the date is still good.

Doesn't really make sense. I don't even have a credit card to begin with. My debit card is DEFINITELY not expired, and there's no place to even input a debit card into Paypal. It just says "add card, Discovery, Visa, Mastercard, American Express". I've had 0 cards on my account for about 4 months now and I had been able to make instant transfers. And I had no money on my Paypal account. Now suddenly I have to use eChecks. How can I make it so I don't have to use eChecks anymore?

Open a Support Ticket here, see what the Techs have to say.

https://ppmts.custhelp.com/app/home

Note, you will have to setup an account, after that you can submit and track your question.

They may tell you to contact customer support but, at least it's someplace to start.

I agree. Same thing happened to me when my creditcard was renewed and PayPal did not have a new expiration date [same card number though]. I feel that I was "slammed" into an unwanted & unauthorized echeck issuance by PayPal, The transaction should not have been authorized in the first place. This policy STINKS and should be changed. Now I have 4 unhappy sellers waiting for some stupid echeck, not to mention that I wanted my items right away. SHAME ON YOU, PAYPAL!

Am having the same issue, to much annoyance.  No change in credit card status, all I did was add a new bank account (while leaving the old one as my primary) and suddenly I can no longer make instant transfers.

same problem,it gave me instant transfer from a bank account when buying stuff on ebay while my account does not have cedit cards etc set up.was only my bank account set up..

at first when i started ebay,it would do echecks for bank transfer payment..then later i noticed instant payment transfer from bank account(which i prefer over the echecks)stoped working and switched back to echeck on june 2013

So why give instant payment from bank account that is not link to credit card etc??? only to switch back to Echecking for bank...

I wanted to pay a person in INDIA with an E-check from my Paypal Account. My account is connected to my bank account and I have a small amount of money in that Account.

When I tried to send money via E-check, the system only wanted to do in instant payment. I did not want to do that because the person in INDIA has to pay a lot of fees to receive the money.

We called Paypal several times, we received different instructions. Nobody knew how to send an e-check. We send emails to Paypal regarding that issue but they gave us misleading information. Nothing worked at all!

So we are very disappointed! We cannot find a solution. The person in INDIA told us that she always receives money via E-checks from the United States.

Does anybody knows how to resolve that problem?

I had the same problem sending an e-check to the UK.  I was able to do it by deleting credit card account information but keeping bank account information.  It temporarily disabled my instant payment option, but was definitely worth it due to fees.

Sick of echeck as a seller.  I sold on 9/3 have yet receive payment, estimated as late as 9/17.  Buyer has not responded to inquiries as to his intention.  I was notified that bank rejected echeck which again set things back.  By now second chance buyers not interested.  Hate echecks.
