Negative Balance - Will Debit Card Payment Result in Cash Advance Fee?

Hello,

Last week, I placed an order for $5.20 and paid with my Paypal account. Since I already had a credit of $4.90 in my account, Paypal deducted that amount first. However, instead of pulling the remainder from my credit card or checking account, I now have a negative $.30 balance on my Paypal account.

I want to resolve this issue quickly and have tried to transfer the $.30 from my checking account. However, the transactions have failed both times (I have no idea why this is happening). If I pay with my debit card, will I incur a cash advance fee? I know the site says there is a possibility, but I want to know if anyone has experience. I don't want to pay a fee for a $.30 charge. Please help! I would like to resolve this issue ASAP. Thanks!!!

Hello themizzes!

Welcome to the forums! 🙂

The best answer for that question would actually be to ask your credit card company (or bank if it's a debit card) if they would charge a cash advance fee.  Logically, if it's a debit card associated with a bank I wouldn't think there would be a fee, but they would be the only ones that could give you a correct answer.

Go to your PayPal account and click on the Option " Resolve Negative Balance". At that point IF you have your checking/savings account  set up as a payment method with your PayPal account, then it will pull the money from there and clear up the negative balance. Your Debit Card should not be charged if its tied in to your checking/savings account.
