Does seller see my real name when paying with Paypal?

I know that when we buy something, we can see a seller's real name unless they have a business account. But can sellers see my real name as the buyer? I don't want to give my real name. And the site I want to buy stuff off is only accepts Paypal. I've never sold anything so I don't know. Thanks.

Yes, if you are buying then the seller has your name and address so they can send you any items you have paid for.

But why would Paypal need to give my Paypal information (such as real name and address) when the site already asked that information? Paypal is just for the payment. Everything else (giving address, name, etc.) was done on the seller's personal site. Not only that, but I'm not even sure the shipping address I've given the seller is the same as the address I have in my Paypal account. So are you sure that Paypal gives them that info?

I am buying on the seller's site, not through ebay. I've already specified a shipping address and name to ship to to the seller on their site, and just want to pay with Paypal. Are you sure they still give them my real name and Paypal address?

If the seller accepts a paypal payment from you then for their seller protection they have to send to the paypal registered address of the buyer.

How can they do that if they don't have your name and address????

I'm sorry, but what you're saying is false. I've already bought stuff and paid with Paypal and had the object sent to somebody else (so in no way would that address have been my address in my Paypal account). I know I can send to whatever address I choose. My question is, will they still see my real name that's in my Paypal account?

What i am saying is not false. The seller can send to another address if you ask them to BUT for their seller protection they are supposed to send to your paypal registered address.

So paypal would always SUPPLY your name and address.

Don't believe me if you don't want to, doesn't bother me, you asked, i gave you the correct info.

What are the eligibility requirements for PayPal seller protection?

You must meet all of these requirements to be covered:

  1. The item purchased must be a physical, tangible good.
  2. The transaction must be marked by PayPal as eligible or partially eligible for PayPal seller protection on your Account “Transaction Details” page. If it is marked eligible, protection for both Unauthorised Payments and Item Not Received will apply. If it is marked partially eligible, protection for only Item Not Received will apply.
  3. Post the item to the shipping address on the “Transaction Details” page. If the item is delivered in person or if the Payment Recipient posts the item to a different address (for example, if the buyer asks that you send to another address on the basis that it is a “work address” or a “gift” address) then you will not be eligible for re-imbursement under the terms of the programme.

I've never sold, so I can't be sure about this, but I think you're misunderstanding the part about the address that in the "Transaction Details". No where does it say that the address in the Transaction Details has to be the address that's ASSOCIATED with your Paypal account. If you provide a shipping address to the seller on their website when you checkout, it's THIS address that will be shown in "Transaction Details", thus the seller will be covered.

And just to double check, I DID pay by Paypal in 2014 and had an item shipped to someone else. The seller did ship with no problems. Maybe they did so despite the fact the would not be covered? I don't know. I just know I made no special request. I gave them a shipping address, a billing address, and paid by Paypal. In my Paypal "Transaction Details" for this transaction, the address that appears is the shipping address I provided, NOT the address associated to my Paypal adress.
