I've had this problem for a week now, and have called paypal to unlock my account once already.
Before this all happend, I was trying to change my password as part of a routine. I was asked to complete the process by giving my 'Full Account Number'. It showed me my last two digits, and I was certain that what I typed in was correct, but apparently not. I gave the account number shown on my savings account that ended in the two digits shown, but it did not work.
I've seen a lot of posts similar to mine, but there are no solutions.
I am asking for the format of the 'Full Account Number'.

You would need to discuss your issue with customer support direct as no one here has access to account info.

I know no one has access to my personal account info, but I'm sure the format should be the same for everyone. This security question is being asked to many people randomly, and since there's not too many posts with my problem, I'd assume people know the format and have completed the question with no problem.

I have the same problem. Did anyone manage to solve this?
Paypal keeps asking me for my "full account number" to let me login.
They show me my last too digits of my supposed account. But what is the format of it?
It's my IBAN? If I put my IBAN it says that it can only contain numbers, if I delete PT50 (Portugal), error
I've tried with and without spaces, with and without dots.
I've send an email to paypal's support. No answer.
I've tried to reach out on paypal's facebook page. They told me I have to call to support.
I'm getting frustrated....

Hello everyone!
I'm sorry for the trouble you've all experienced!
When we ask for this information to be verified we are asking ONLY for the account number. You would not need to enter bank, transit, IBAN or routing numbers.
We are asking that you verify what you entered originally when you added the account, so the format will depend on how you originally entered the information. If you used dashes, then use dashes to verify it. If your account number was entered with leading zeros then remember to include these when verifying it as well.
Sometimes bank account numbers can be formatted differently on different documents. The bottom of your check may show leading zeros on the account number where the bank statement may not, so you may need to try it a couple of different ways. If you can't get it to accept what you are entering please feel free to give us a call and we would be happy to assist!
I hope this helps!

What happens if you can't remember the exact format that you entered the bank account number? How can users find what format they used in order to be able to do things like change passwords, etc?

Over a year later...
This seems like a really flawed security 'feature'. I have this problem too. I need to change my primary email address but can't. I have NO idea what format the account number was originally entered so cannot respond appropriately to the security prompt for my full account number. Who would remember such a thing? There was nothing advising at the time it was first entered that the format it was a crucial little detail that needed to be ratained for later use.
The problem with your response Erica is that it's not very helpful... it just explains what the issue might be, and of course like many people, I have no idea what an IBAN or routing number etc is anyway so none of that actually means much.
It would be really great if this annoyance could be re-thought.
