Question about prepaid Visa cards

If I use a prepaid visa card to pay for something that costs more than the amount that's on the card, will it automatically charge the rest to my Paypal balance/bank account? I have a $15 card linked to my account and I don't want to get in trouble for overcharging it or anything. If I can just use up the whole card and then pay for the rest with my balance or bank, that'd be ideal.

Welcome to the community! That's a great question and I'm happy to answer.

PayPal has no knowledge of the balance on any of your credit cards, debit cards, or bank accounts. It is not possible to designate that only a certain amount be charged to one funding method, and it is not possible to use multiple external funding methods to make a payment. You can, however, use your PayPal balance and use a card or bank account to Instant Transfer any amount not covered by your balance, as long as there is a valid backup payment method on file to allow the Instant Transfer. The options will be outlined at the time of payment.
