If the goods do not require shipping, mark it as order processed/service rendered and wait 7 days for domestic payments or 14 days for intl payments for funds to be released.

Thing is I tried that but it required a tracking shipment for some reason

Click Add Tracking, then the dropdown menu and depending what is selected, you may not need to add tracking number.

Without a tracking number there is no proof of delivery and buyer can very easily claim non-delivery and get a refund.  Best to leave funds where they are in case of a forced refund.  PayPal is taking steps to minimize it's risk.
