Every month my account is debited for the payment of a bill. What happens when funds are insufficient? Will payment be refused or will my credit card be charged?
Thanks.

Can vary, normally paypal will try and debit your normal funding source eg bank account and if it fails they will try again a few days later and if that fails they will either use your back up funding source or put your paypal account into negative until you pay them back again.
If that happens they ''may'' remove your right to fund paypal payments from your bank account (if that is where the failure occured).
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Can I stop PayPal from giving me a negative balance?
For example, if my debit card is automatically debited for a subscription and there's not enough funds, I don't want PayPal to pay the bill for me. I want them to refuse to pay it so I don't owe them anything and I'm not in debt. I understand that I won't have the subscription anymore since the payment wouldn't have gone through.

Hi UserNameForPayP,
I'm happy to help! You can also cancel the billing agreement. You can review the active billing agreements and cancel any that you do not wish to have charged by following these steps:

I hope this helps!
