Selling E-Tickets

I'm trying to sell some e-tickets for an event that going to happen in 6 months but the last day to change the name on the ticket is in 2 months. I have some concerns. How do I protect myself from getting scam since e-tickets are digital goods and are not protected by paypal's seller protection? What if the buyer decide to do a chargeback or file a dispute after the cutoff date? How do I show that I deliver the tickets since it will be by email?

No seller protection for virtual items so you accept all risk of disputes for problems and chargebacks.  Make sure you keep funds avaiable to cover all potential issues for 180 days.

You could reduce your risk on the non-delivery part by shipping with online tracking to show delivery.  You also would need to ship immediately to make sure you have tracking before a non-delivery dispute is filed.

You still have the extremely high risk of other issues such as non-usable ticket to potential counterfeit tickets.

what would be the best way to protect myself from scammers? Print out the ticket confirmation and send it? The ticket confirmation have no meaning since to get the actually ticket you will need the barcode that will be send to the email after the cutoff date.

With e-tickets you can't.  It's just part of the risk for such products.

Well, there needs to be a digital trail of some kind. Is the barcode a jpg, text file? You can wetransfer.com the file to the buyer's email address and when the file is downloaded you get an email from wetransfer that the file was downloaded.  If there is a way to check that the tickets were used, that might be helpful too.  Ultimately, there is no guarantee. Just have to give the best evidence as you can.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
