Money Missing

I received a $400 payment from a buyer. I got an email confirmation that told me it would be held until the afternoon of march 24th. I’ve waited and now it is 3:50pm, march 24th. I have not received the payment or any type of email regarding the payment such as a cancellation or delay. Any help?

Hi @haydenmb29,

Thank you for joining the community!

I'm sorry to hear about the situation you describe. It sounds like you may have received a spoof email, which is a fake email that appears to be sent by PayPal but is actually sent by a fraudster with the intent to trick you into sending goods, or potentially to gather information from you to be used for fraud - a process called "phishing." Sometimes, fraudsters will even seek to trick an unsuspecting seller into sending money back to them through a different transaction on PayPal or even another service.

If you received an email stating that you have received a payment, but there is no actual payment in your PayPal account, the email is a fake. If you clicked any links in the email, especially if you logged in or offered any information via that link, please take a look at the bottom of this page for steps to take to restore your security.

I hope this information helps. We want you to stay safe!

Olivia
