If I get a Paypal payment, is it GOOD, or can it later bounce like a check?

I have an item for sale and guy 2000 miles says he wants to buy it and will have a shipping company pick it up. Naturally that stinks, but I don't want to just blow it off. I have two questions...
1) If he pays me by Paypal, do I know with certainty that the payment is good, or can it somehow fail like a bad check?
2) Is there any risk to giving him my email associated with my Paypal account so he can pay me?

Likely a scam, but maybe not.
