Change of Primary Email

Is it possible to change your primary email if it is assocaited with a company you no longer work at and the email is inactive?

Add a new one > verify it > click on update and there should be an option to make that email the primary one.

Then you should get a remove option for the now no longer primary one.

That did not work - I have tried logging in again but it does not allow me to change the primary.
