Question about invoices

Hi! I am new to Paypal so i have a few questions regarding payment received via invoices. 2 weeks ago, i've just created my Paypal account and a buyer paid me for goods that i am selling online. He said that he will send me an invoice and all i have to do was wait for Paypal to process the invoice and i will get the money. However, it's already been more than a week and i have still not received my money. I was thinking that maybe he had 'marked the invoice as paid' and hence i could not get the money.. I wasn't sure what was really going on but he claimed that the money has already been deducted from his account. Now the problem is if the money has already been deducted from his account, wouldn't i receive the money too? Or is it something that i have to do in order to retrieve the money? Any help will be appreciated!
