Donation pending problem?

Hello everyone ,

I've got a question about donating system and its pending time.

Yesterday evening I sold something (not on ebay etc) to another guy and he paid me by paypal donation.

Its been 24h and I still don't have any money in my paypal wallet and it says that "this payment is still waiting for authorization..."

I'm asking - how long does it take to authorize this donation ?

And is there an option that they guy can chargeback this donation and he will simply deceive me? (of course if that happens I will make a dispute - I have screenshots of my conversation etc where he agree to pay and so on...)

Donating system?  Unless you are a non-profit organization or a charity, you can't be paid by "paypal donation"

The way you are describing it, the buyer sent a "friends and family" payment where no fee is charged for you to receive payment.  If a fee is charged to you that can mean the buyer sent payment with credit card and they can file a chargeback with their credit card issuer instead of filing a dispute on PayPal.   There would be no way you will be protected as you received payment for goods with a friends and family payment. PayPal gives no protection for that.  So you saying that you received payment as a donation does not make sense.

What does it exactly say on the transaction details page next to "Status"?  Click on the transaction and click "See details on classic site" to get there.

Just wait until the money is received before shipping.  Really not much to do about it right now but wait until it says completed and PayPal tells you it is ok to ship.  I see there is a fee charged so it is not a "donation" or "family and friends/gift" payment so you're protected with seller protection.

Depending on how the sender fund the payment (bank, credit account or PayPal balance), it has an effect on how long it takes for you to receive payment.  And it's only been a day.
