Hi!
I am new to PP and was just wondering if they automatically email me a tracking number for my shipment once I mail it; or do I have to take my package to the post office and have them give me a mailing receipt in order to track it?
Thanks,
jessicamartin

When you sell an item and pay for the shipping through your PayPal Account, the tracking number is automatically added to the associated transaction record in your Account History.
If you go to the Post Office or use the USPS web site, you get the tracking number once you complete the label purchase process however, it's up to you to manually enter that number in your PayPal transaction record.

Okay. So since I went through PP to get the shipping label I'm good? Do I need to notify seller of the number or do they get an email about the tracking number?

PayPay does provide the buyer an email notification that item has shipped and they do include a link with the tracking number so they can follow-up on their own.
As the seller, you can always send a seperate email with a Thank You and include the tracking information, (of course doing so is optional but, it a nice personal touch).

Hi Snowshoe - I realize that this is a year old post, but hope you're still helping folks. I can't see where Paypal is actually sending tracking numbers to my customers and I constantly get emails about whether order shipped. I'm trying to remember to type something in the send email to customer part of the shipping page, but it would be so much easier if it was done automatically especially if I could type in a standard thank you/ it shipped/ here's your tracking # type of message.. Any ideas? Thank you!
