I have an event planning application that asks the user to submit a security deposit to book their event when checking out. I am wondering if this would be eligible for Express Checkout for Digital Goods, as I am wanting to implement a lightbox-style checkout flow, and do not need to ship any sort of physical product or collect user address information

Not sure how that would qualify as Digital Goods. The other potential issue would be if a dispute is opened against you as the deposit would be considered a "service" which in turn is not covered for Seller Protection.
