Adding money from my bank

I added money from my linked bank account on February 1, today is the 5th funds still not there...how long does it usually take? My bank shows money transferred as of the 3rd. I kinda thought that maybe the transfer would be about a day since the account is linked.

For US Accounts, the time can vary from 1 to 4 days.  Each bank is different, for example, we average 2 days, sometimes 3 days.   CA Accounts take even longer, it can 7 to 8 days for the funds to be transferred.

My account only shows adding money to my account using Money Pack.   I  can't just transfer money from my bank account to my Paypal account - why not?

Are you just hovering your cursor over the Add Money link, if  yes ... all you will see is "Add Money from Moneypak".    Assuming you have a bank account linked and confirmed, you have to click on the Add Money link.  Note, the first time you use this featue you have to confirm your identiy in order to proceed.

If money is automatically transferred from my bank to my account to cover an overcharge, are there any fees for this?

When you move funds from your bank account to your account balance, there's no fees.

I'm asking when paypal transfers $$ (from my bank) to cover insufficient funds in my paypal account, are there any charges or fees and how long does it take - a few days or instant?

You need to initiate the transfer withdraw request to make up for a negative balance, PayPal does not automatically do that and there are no additional fees.

OK and what happens if you don't transfer funds?   Where can I get comprehensive information from paypal concerning these issues?   It seems very hard (or I don't know where to look) to find out how this works!

What we know from experience, if your account is in a negative balance, it's your responsibley to pay it off.  How you do that is your choice, most common practice is simply transfer from your bank account the due amount to your account.  Bottom line, you basically can't do much with your account until you resolve the issue.
