Mine have also been fixed! I really hope that what this person told me was correct - I'm advising all of my clients to call or submit a ticket as well.   Hopefull this will be the end of it!! ... View more

The person I spoke to started off saying something like that - but he clarified that what he meant was that AT THIS TIME only PayPal Payments Pro is working to accept credit or debit card payments without an account. They did suspend that functionality for all the rest - because of this issue, but that suspension is temporary and you can get accounts individually restored by calling them or submitting a ticket. ... Here is the message I just recieved from PayPal: Thank you for contacting PayPal Customer Support. My name is John and I am happy to assist you with resolving your guest checkout issues.  I apologize for all the miscommunication.  What I have done is added both of the accounts we discussed to an existing issue ticket.  Our engineers are addressing these accounts one at a time and making those changes go into effect.  The expected resolution time is within 24 hours of being reported.  Rest assured, we will have both of those accounts able to process guest checkouts by this time tomorrow.   Thank you for being part of the PayPal community. Sincerely, John PayPal Customer Solutions PayPal   ... View more

I just spoke with a rep at PayPal. I hope what he told me is accuarate. Here is the scoop:   The issue IS a technical problem. They HAVE suspended guest checkout for all credit card transactions. This suspension is TEMPORARY - they don't think the problem will be fixed until sometime in January. In the meantime they have suspended the guest checkout to allow them an easier path to fix the problem. If you call them and give them your account details they will re-enable your account to allow guest check out (they just did this for me for 2 of my accounts). The PayPal account owner must call and request this.   The rep I spoke to said he was going to send me an email with these details, outlining what they are doing and how to fix it for individual accounts. As soon as I receive that email, I will post it here.     ... View more

I have one site that seems to be working correctly. I've uploaded two photos - the first shows the way it looks when working correctly, the second shows the error. I've also added them below in case anyone doesn't want to click the link.   http://justduckytestsite.com/PayPalError/   Working correctly:     The error - not allowing checkout without creating account:   ... I'm using EcommerceTemplates software for my shopping carts and all my sites are affected. I have one site that is using a simple payment button, created from the PayPal website and that is also having the same problem. Someone has suggested using Amazon Payments or having them pay with cash - that's not really an option for every site. I have over 2 dozen clients affected by this issue - who's going to pay me to change their payment providers, set up and test their new accounts, and take the time to explain to all of them how to integrate these new paymetn providers into their accounting? All because PayPal can't fix this?   PayPal created this problem when the changed the interface - the bug is somewhere in that interface. They told me that the reason it's taking so long is because it can be an intermittent problem and that not all sites are affected and not all browsers will always display the issue. This needs to get fixed soon! ... View more

Still not fixed as of 9:30 am 12/12/16. I spoke with PayPal again this morning. They asked me to submit a ticket and upload a screenshot of the page (where the customer enters their credit card info, but can't move past the page without creating an account) and the source code for the page and the page just previous to it (where you can select "Pay with Debit or Credit Card". The person I spoke to said that they are having a lot of trouble fixing it because it's not happening to every site, and it's not happening with every browser, and it's not happening all the time even to the sites it's effecting - it seems to be intermittent and that makes it difficult to track down. While I understand that - it's getting very frustrating. I have dozen of my website clients (who have on line stores) calling me very upset that they cannot get paid -- and I had another email this morning from one of my clients who tried to pay me on my website and I'm having the same issue. I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to advise all of my clients to jump ship and start integrating different payment providers for all of them. The only other solutin within PayPal would be to upgrade to PayPal Payments Pro and that's not an option for all of my clients....SSL certificate, monthly fees, etc. Anyone have any ideas - even for short term? ... I see what you are saying - but that is not the issue here - unless PayPal is lying.   As I said in my post, I spoke to a PayPal tech support person and also got an email from another tech support person saying that this is a known issue and they are working on it. The person I spoke to said "this is an all hands on deck situation - we want it fixed as quickly as possible". According to the email I received "The ticket will remain in a "Pending Fix" status until you're contaced about the resolution.   So... while you point may be valid - PayPal DOES offer the option of allowing customers to checkout WITHOUT creating an account. It is an option in everyone's control panel under seller tools. ... View more

I am a website designer with dozens of sites using PayPal Payments Standard for their on line stores. All of them are experiencing this issue. I spent about a half hour on the phone on Friday with one PayPal tech trying to tell me that my PayPal button was set up incorrectly (I know it was not - I'm not using a PayPal button, I'm using a full ecommerce store with PayPal Payments Standard as the payment option). I did more checking at tht point and that's when I found out it was not just one store - but all of them. I then called PayPal back, and fortunately got someone who knew what they were talking about and was told it was a "known problem" and they were working on it and would hopefully have it fixed with a "few hours" - that was Friday, Dec. 9 around 4 pm central time. I see from the posts here that it actually started the day before. I did get an email from the Friday afternoon which said: Thank you for contacting Merchant Technical Support. Unfortunately, the problem you're experiencing is being caused by some technical issues with the PayPal system. Our engineers are currently working diligently on a solution to this problem. I am going to assign this ticket to our internal engineering ticket so that when the problem is resolved, you will be notified of its completion right away. This ticket will remain in a "Pending Fix" status until you're contacted about the resolution. I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience! My customers are pretty upset about this and have emailed me multiple times over the weekend. Unfortunatley all I can tell them is that we need to wait for PayPal to fix it. Very frustrating!! Has anyone else heard anything new? ... View more
