After 5 unsuccsessful attempts to update the card reader software, I finally succeeded. I factory reset the reader, then I removed all paired Bluetooth device settings from the android phone. Then re-paired with the Paypal Here Bluetooth reader and followed the download instructions after invoking the Paypal Here app. Other active Bluetooth Devices talking to the Phone such as a handsfree really **bleep** up the update process.

Hi, The printer I bought defaulted to £ symbol so I had to do nothing. Maybe need to select UK character set somehow. Printers should have setup app on CD to set code page which sets language. On my printer, code page 0 is standard Europe or codepage 6 is Western Europe. If you run the self test routine, you should get a code page listing.

If you have a cheap printer which offers Star command set compatibility, it might be worth seeing if you can change the embedded printer name to Star Micronics because it looks like the Paypal Here app interrogates phone attached Bluetooth printers to see if they match the printer name which determines which driver it uses to print receipts. I know it is possible to do this for the Woosim driver. Maybe you can do the same for Star printers. The printer name is factory set to something like "Bluetooth Printer" but Windows print utilities are available to reprogram the printer name. Check the DVD that normally is supplied with low cost Chinese Bluetooth receipt printers.

Cheap Chinese Bluetooth printers work with Paypal Here for receipt printing provided they are Epson ESC/POS compatible and come with a Windows utility on CD to reprogram the embedded printer name. Just change the name to Woosim and you are good to go. Will be detected by the app as a Woosim printer. Great low cost solution for small volume traders.

Supplementary I am using the Paypal Here Android app so am unable to test the low cost printer fix with the iPhone app. Please report if it works on the iPhone if you try it. I believe it may work for the Star printer driver if the low cost printer supports the Star command set. Having studied the Star command set specifications, I believe the printer name would need to be set to Star Micronics. It would be great if somebody would try it and report back to this thread. After all, these cheap Chinese bluetooth printers cost less than a trading pitch for the day. I think many traders are put off the Paypal Here system by the lack of affordable receipt printing. Maybe Paypal should do some work in this area to show that it is not such a big issue.

I bought a cheap chinese Bluetooth printer from ebay (£35 UK). The trick is to use the printer utility to change the printer name to Woosim. So long as the printer uses the epson ESC/POS command set, Android Paypal Here app recognises it as a Woosim printer and will print to it fine. Don't know if this will work with the IOS version of the app but may be worth a try. My cheap 58mm bluetooth printer works faultlessly.

Many people have the issue of needing to print receipts for card payments. Here is a cheap solution. Currently Paypal Here allows receipt printing on a very limited range of Star Micronics and Woosim Bluetooth printers. These are a quite expensive investment for the small trader. Well it turns out that the Paypal Here Android application driver for a Woosim printer uses the Epson ESC/POS command set. I bought a cheap 58mm Bluetooth printer for £35 and there are many being advertised on eBay. The printer came with a little CD containing a Windows utility to enable limited configuration of the printer when connected via a USB cable. One of the things I was able to do was change the printer name to Woosim. Hey presto, when connected to the Paypal Here Android phone app via bluetooth, the printer was recognised as a Woosim printer and is printing my customers receipts with no issues. If you want to try this, make sure you buy a printer with the ESC/POS command set. Most cheap chinese printers allow you to change the printer name by means of Windows utilities. No guarantees but it worked for me.

You can get the paypal here apk from Snap if irs not in the Amazon app store. Remember to switch on Bluetooth before invoking the app. Don't remember any need to verify the BlackBerry phone. You need to set up password access to the app. Press the sync button on the reader if the phone is trying to connect. If I occasionally get repeated failures to connect, I power cycle the phone. The reader battery life could be better. I always carry a spare battery.

Paypal Here Chip and PIN reader works perfectly on my Z10 phone with the Blackberry OS. (BB10 latest versionsof the Android runtime). I have been using it for more than 6 months without issues, However wish Paypal would sort out the **bleep** printer interface from the app. Why can't they make the app compatible with printers which use ESC/POS control. Then you could use £50 bluetooth mobile receipt printers instead of bein forced to pay £200 + for Star devices.
