PayPal Community

I paid an invoice yesterday (18th Jan), got the usual email receipt from Paypal to say I had sent a payment to XXXXX.  When I look at Activity on Paypal it clearly shows the payment details.  No special notes etc.  My linked bank account has not had the money taken yet and the seller has had advice of my payment but that it is on hold for 72 hours. Following putting a case through Resolution Centre, seller is refunding my postage costs.     I paid by Paypal and they are asking for my Paypal details to refund it.  Should they not just be able to refund back from their transaction which went through at the end of Sept / early Oct?   If not, what details do I give them?  ... I have a "cancelled payment" in my overview, which was for an Echeque, which when I hover the mouse over it says that this is in my Paypal balance.  My balance however is 0.00.  The cancelled payment and the amended payment have both been taken from my bank account - so where is this balance? ...
