Don't Join PP

If you are a business with a large turnover DON'T repeat DON'T use Paypal as the customer service is appalling. Lost emails. Countless phone calles to a different person every time you call so you have to explain everything over and over again. Also their T&C's are virtually unworkable and we have challenged them under the "Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977" as in some cases they are basiaclly witholding your money with any reason. We had an account limitation added to us on the 29th May 2017 and we still not have had a respponse. All we were told the account was closed, then opened, then closed, then opened pending appeal. We wonder what will happen to Paypal as regards Brexit as I suspect they will be on dodgy ground regarding witheld payments.    We are having to result to legal action to get what money we have back in the account. The court fees are more than the money but it's a matter of principal. If you are selling trinkets at a car boot sale or the odd coffee in a shop you'll be fine. But for a business that turns over £5K a week on a bar don't bother, use a proper commercial bank based in the UK. Paypal are great at changing the goalposts from their offices in Richmond, to Luxembourg than to Dublin.    Also please be aware that if your account becomes limited to add insult to injury PP are more than happy to keep accpepting payments from customers and do input banking. But you try and get at your money that is nigh on impossible. It would seem that PP really want their cake and eat it. Also as a marter of interest we had a debit card compromised and I called PP to have this removed from my account profile which they refused to do. In the end the end I had to use the Data Protection Act to get them to remove the card. You can withdrawl your permission at any time verbally or in writing and they have a legal obligation to adhere to your request.    I would urge anyone using PP to seriously think about it.  ... Been waiting weeks now for my account to be reviewed. Sort of given up now and moved to another service provider. Despite 10 emails and 25 phones calles you just get the same old rubbish everytime you call. You get automated emails with the usual crap on them. Never had such bad customer service from a company.    Also PP keeps your money despite them limiting your account! They also have the cheek to let you accept payments and not take the money out.    One word: Hopeless....maybe useless?    AR ... View more

Is there a fault with the Paypal phone system?

Why is it when I call PP I can hear them but they can't hear me. Even their stupid auto system won't respond to voice command and when you do get through to a human they cant't hear you? Is there a fault or are PP deliberately ignoring my calls? ... View more

Location Needed before payment.

by skinhead Contributor in PayPal Here App

Over the last few days myself and other users of PPH have had some pretty hidious problems When we log in and start accepting payments the App keeps asking the location for security despite it asking for it only the other day. It was just not me, there were other people I know who keep getting this message and it appears to of happened in the last week or so following an PPH update.   Also for those of us who work in railway arches will nill access to sunlight or windows this can be a mega problem with the App asking for your location. Now the problem we have is that if you lose the connection to the WiFi due to the size of the arch when you go outside and try and confirm location you lose the connection! So you get stuck in this conundrum of no Wifi or no Location! Having lost a few thousand pounds over this I called PPH and first spoke to someone who was totally clueless and no idea what I was asking. Then I called someone else yesterday and got a better response and PP stated there had been problems with the location service. I get the impression after looking at my account he must of disabled the bit that asks for location and it all worked again. I hasten to add PPH App asks us for the location even if you went from one end of the arch to the other!    The crux of the issue here is that it is clear if you are in the UK by your IP address or WiFi location so the whole location ask is pointless. This is also compounded by if your tablet is just a tablet and does not have 4G or 3G. Even GPS can be a problem in London. PPH should contract it's users to ensure that they are in the UK and dump this antiquated location service.    On the whole PPH works well and we have a turnover of £40k+ and we most on PPH. But we will have to reconsider this if the problem persists. I was also told a load of rubbish by staff at PPH and they said it was a tablet issue which it is not as I have tried it on both Android and I-Pad. Also when you offer to want to develop PPH to be intergrated with my IWS250 Bluetooth PDQ it just falls on death ears..... ... View more

Printers and the same old problem with PPH

by skinhead Contributor in PayPal Here App

Does anyone know or care about the fact there are only ONE printer that is now available for printing when you are using PPH in Android. Also more to the point the Woosim printer is no longer available in the UK or for that matter in Europe. In the UK it is normal for customers to ask for a reciept and for me to keep a copy for the accountant. It's a waste of time and ammature if you cant provide a receipt. Also the Woosim and Star are well over £250.00 in the UK.   Paypal Here either needs to get it finger pulled out and stop dragging it's heels and get more printers to be compatible or at least release the source code for the PPH program on Android. I am left with the impression thar PPH are unable to solve this long running problem despite them knowing about this for well over a year. As a point of interest not everyone uses Apple or wants to. More to the point if the PPH development team really knew what they were doing they intergrate one of the Ingenco Bluetooth PDQ's machines that I had before from my bank. I am sure it is not rocket science to get interface a Ingenco 220 with the PPH Application?   As a point i-Zettle and Zinc have more choice of printers. It would be a shame if PPH fell flat on it's face because no one is listening or cares about the fact that we need a printer! On Ebay there are printers for £30.00, can't you lot buy one and interface it with the app? I don't want to leave PPH as it works and is all set up but it getting worrying there is no printer available in the UK/Europe if my old Woosim packs up. Interestingly I had to tell Paypal that the Star 220i is NOT compatible in Android despite them saying on the website, it took them neealy eight months to correct the website.   Come on PPH......pull your fingers out, I ma sure that some nerd in the department can work out how to solve the problem of printers? More so if you live in the UK!   AR ... View more

Pay Pal Here Printers.

If you are using Paypal Here with a printer in Android you should be aware that the Woosim printer is now virtually unobtainable in the UK. I am looking to expand my business and if Paypal can't solve the problems with the lack of printers suitable for Android users I'll have to move to another provider.   PP need to aaddress this problem as a matter of urgency as not all us want to use or care about Apple products. It is just pointless joining PPH if you need to print out a reciept for your customers and for your till draw! 99% of my customers demand a reciept and there is no point using this if you can't sort out a printer.   Also at £240.00 if you can find one is expensive, what is annoying is that there are Bluetooth printers on Ebay for £25.00 but no one at Ebay as bothered to invetigate this potential. I will give PPH a few more months to address the problem of printers or I'll just move on to Streamlines "Zinc" program that offers the same service but with a printer!   Ebay just sit on hands and ignore the problem but you are going to lose out as people will reaslise the problems with printer connectivity. ... When will PPH get their fngers pulled out and sort out the printers for Android? Nothing has moved on this for months. We need new printers as the Woosim is not avaiable most of the time.   Also not all of us use Apple products or want to ....   Alan ... View more

Re: receipt printer for paypal here?

This is a major problem with Paypal Here. The app is totally useless at finding any other printer than the programmed Star or Woosim Bluetooth printers. As you may well of found out both the Woosim and Star are in excess of £250.00 where a generic Bluetooth printer is a mere £37.00 or so.   I have asked PP to release the coding or add the coding for various printers and to be frank they haven't got a clue what I am talking about. I even sent by email the specs for a £35.99 printer off Ebay and this fell on death ears. This can make it very expensive for small business as you have to give a reciept to all customers and a copy for the accountant.   Add to the fact the Star printer does not interface with the PPH app in some cases (Star are aware of this) you end up with a useless printer that you may get a refund on. I ended up with the Woosim off Ebay for £249.99 for a printer that is the size of a packet of cigarettes. It would even be good if we were able to connect it to a Epson T-88BT printer....but no.   Interestly though any old bluetooth printer will interface with Windows but it still wont find the app printer which is frustrating.   On the whole we have used PPH here several months without any problems but the lack hardware is a problem. Also they need to do something with that awful reader as it looks like a kids toy. There is the other option of combining the whole thing into a Ingenico Bluetooth type set up but I suspect this will fall flat on it's face.....     ... View more

Overpriced Printers and lack of support

Aboslutely no problems with Paypal Here.   However you need to sort the very limited selection of printers available to use. At present all you have is the Woosim (£250.00) or a Star (£274.00) which is a bit of a rip off as you buy a standard one off Ebay for £35.99!   Many in business require us to give a reciept to the customer and for the accoutnant.   You really need to make more printers available. Also when we call up PPH to explain this it just falls on death ears...   AR ... View more

I sold a Orbit Scanner for a EPOS system the other day and now I have been told PP are Holding the funds of £26.40 in the PP account although there is nothing in the account. Someone else bought an item for £5.00 then instead of the account going up to +£5.00 all what happened was the account went to -£21.40! What a utter rip off. Sellers have no protection what so ever with Ebay or PP and indeed sellers have to suffer at the hands if inept, stupid or dumb buyers who cant set up the things they have bought. In my opinion the customer is NOT aways right and will often try it on at the expense of the seller.   If there is a dispute the funds used to purchase the original item should be held in a "Holding Account" from PP, not your own account. Instead we have to support a thick idiot for a week or so whilst Ebay sits on it's hand debating to hand back the money either way. Even refusng to accept the goods back means nothing to Ebay or PayPal asa they'll just take the money regardless. In the UK we are inosent until proven guilty but in Ebay/PP land that is reversed.   I for one am reconcidering my account with Ebay as we as sellers have NO rights at all and Ebay runs roughshot over the DSR Act. It is great shame as PP Here is a excellent service but it is been let down by draconion and rules and and some dubious regualtions at Ebay.   I won't be selling another thing on Ebay..... ...
