I did that... they emailed me back with a canned answer telling me to call them. Seriously. I even specified in the email I sent them that I didn't have a phone.   I have a feeling this is going to take forever to fix.   I'm keeping an eye on the credit card, though. If I have to cancel it a second time I'm going to be a very sad camper.   Thanks, though. 🙂 ... View more

I just got the same problem, and no one will talk to me about it because I don't have a phone (just email). I just got the bloody credit card like three months ago, too. Oi, Paypal! How are we supposed to get our credit cards off other people's accounts? ... View more

The email you got was almost certainly a phishing email. If you entered any credit card information, you need to cancel those credit cards immediately as they have just been stolen. Forward any emails like that to spoof(at)paypal(dot)com, and since you've already fallen for this one, you'll need to change your Paypal password as well. If I were you I'd also get a credit report to see how far the identity theft has gone.   Be careful when entering personal information online! And never, EVER enter personal information in response to an email, no matter who they claim to be emailing from, and never enter personal information into a site you get to from clicking a link in an email -- always open a new tab and go to the Paypal site directly. ... In case you all (and the other disatissfied Paypallers out there) are interested, http://www.classadvocate.com/ is a dynamic listing of current class action lawsuits in the U.S.   I don't work for them or anything and I'm not advertising using them as a service, I just think when you're upset with a company it's always fun to know whether they're getting sued for doing the same thing they did to you to other people. Call it a small sadistic pleasure. 😉 And that site is fairly user-friendly and popup-free. ... View more

Why on earth do you people not follow the BIG, BOLD WARNINGS on the top of every Craigslist page saying not to do stuff like this? Seriously, it's people like you who keep these scammers in business. ... View more

Ebay warns you not to buy items from sellers unless it's through the actual auction process and not to make independent deals with sellers. They tell you this because they can't document your purchase if you don't use the proper procedure. They tell you thsi because if you don't use the proper procedure and then you get **bleep**ed over, they won't be able to help you.   My youngest brother got **bleep**ed out of $5,000 that way once buying a quad from a seller who contacted him independently after the auction. It sucked, but if was his fault for not following directions and clear warnings. We understood this, and took it as a lesson learned the hard way and moved on.   Don't blame Ebay or Paypal for your mistakes. If you don't follow directions, and you get **bleep**ed over because of that, it's your own fault. Whining about it or coming to the Paypal forums and posting about your complaints and how bitter you are is not going to solve the problem, nor will it help you learn not to make the same mistake twice.   Lots of people get **bleep**ed by Ebay and Paypal FOR REAL. You didn't. You got **bleep**ed by a dishonest seller and your own foolishness. Complaining and passing blame is just making it harder for people with genuine problems that are actually Ebay/Paypal's fault to get their issues resolved.   Post all you want about how you're bitter that you got **bleep**ed, but don't blame anyone but yourself for the **bleep**ing, and follow directions next time.   No, I don't work for Paypal or Ebay... I'm just a person who gets rather disgusted by people who constantly blame others for their own mistakes. ... View more

I had this problem a year or so ago, and was told that while you can switch back and forth between credit cards and checking accounts for normal payments, postage can only be paid through a checking account and will automatically be drawn from your primary checking account.   I thought it was the stupidest thing ever, but there you go. This is why I just use www.usps.com now for postage, even though they don't offer media mail prices online.   Good luck to you. 🙂 ... View more
