I was making a purchase on Etsy tonight. The seller does accept Paypal, but for some reason, when I went to check out, it would not allow me to select my Smart Connect account, even though my account is in good standing and even after this purchase would be nowhere near my limit. All I could choose was one of my bank accounts, which I did not want to do. Paypal did, however, offer me to apply for "PayPal Credit"...so I figured okay, fine. I'll apply. I was immediately approved, but when I went to pay and selected "PayPal Credit", I got an error message. It is only now, a few frustrating hours later, that I have discovered PayPal does not allow users to have BOTH credit lines, though they have different providers. WHAT? At no point in the application process was I informed of that and I would think since that is the established rule, PayPal should have already known I HAD a credit line and therefore denied me the PayPal Credit to begin with. I have already cancelled my PayPal Credit line and have the verification number for that, but the stupid thing still appears in my PayPal wallet despite $0 balance and it was cancelled and I can find no way to get rid of it. I also now cannot use my Smart Connect at all, which I assume is because of the PayPal Credit account. Why the heck this was even able to happen is beyond me. Can anyone help me fix this mess, or am I pretty much doomed to screaming at the automated message trying to get a human being on the phone when they open tomorrow?
