In brief...the PayPal Credit line is CLOSED. I never used it. I have a confirmation number saying it's closed and when I log in, the account shows as closed. But on my wallet screen, it is still there and I can't get rid of it. I am assuming that is why I can't use my Smart Connect.  ... View more

Got Duped Into Applying for PayPal Credit; can't g...

I was making a purchase on Etsy tonight. The seller does accept Paypal, but for some reason, when I went to check out, it would not allow me to select my Smart Connect account, even though my account is in good standing and even after this purchase would be nowhere near my limit. All I could choose was one of my bank accounts, which I did not want to do.  Paypal did, however, offer me to apply for "PayPal Credit"...so I figured okay, fine. I'll apply. I was immediately approved, but when I went to pay and selected "PayPal Credit", I got an error message.  It is only now, a few frustrating hours later, that I have discovered PayPal does not allow users to have BOTH credit lines, though they have different providers. WHAT? At no point in the application process was I informed of that and I would think since that is the established rule, PayPal should have already known I HAD a credit line and therefore denied me the PayPal Credit to begin with.    I have already cancelled my PayPal Credit line and have the verification number for that, but the stupid thing still appears in my PayPal wallet despite $0 balance and it was cancelled and I can find no way to get rid of it. I also now cannot use my Smart Connect at all, which I assume is because of the PayPal Credit account. Why the heck this was even able to happen is beyond me. Can anyone help me fix this mess, or am I pretty much doomed to screaming at the automated message trying to get a human being on the phone when they open tomorrow?  ... View more

PayPal Newbie friend needs help w/ 5 Step Process;...

Okay, my mom's friend is a newbie both to Ebay and Paypal; I'm posting on her behalf, since she's older and not really savvy to messageboards. She's been selling for about 2 months on Ebay.  She mainly sells homemade trinkets and re-sells things she's purchased over the years from yard sales and flea markets. Her Paypal account is Verified.   Well, a few days ago, Paypal evidently seized the entire balance of her account and she can no longer send or receive payments.  When she contacted Paypal by phone, they informed her that she needs to fulfill 5 things...verifying her email, location, SSN, bank account and provide receipts for her initial purchase of the items she was selling. She has the first 4 down, but has hit a roadblock with the last one.  Exactly how does paypal expect her to provide purchase receipts for things she makes from supplies she's had around the house for years, or things purchased at yard sales?   I have been on Paypal/selling stuff I no longer want on Ebay for almost 10 years and never had a problem with any money being seized or held, other than people who paid with Echecks. I can only assume the reason she's having trouble is because she relists a lot of duplicate homemade items and uses the same picture/description each time; maybe given her newbie status, that set off a warning for Ebay, or something. She isn't making an absurd amount of profit (generally $1-$10 per item) or anything and no one as given her negative feedback or opened a case against her, but thanks to PayPal, she's now being locked out of a fairly nice accumulated balance.   So, what can she do? ... Payment is "Unclaimed"; Verified recipient cannot ...

Okay, my friend is new to PayPal.  She just signed up a few days ago. I sent her $10.00 I owed her via PayPal. The Payment shows up in my account as "Unclaimed". She has received a "You've Got Money!" email at her email address, with a prompt to either sign up for Paypal to claim it, or sign in to PayPal to claim it. She signed in to her account, but the money was not there and there were no further instructions on how to claim the payment I sent her.   I have checked and double-checked to be certain I sent it to the right email address and that that address is, in fact, the one she signed up for PayPal with. She says she verified her information....so what is the hangup here? Why can't she receive the payment? We live several states apart, so I can't see exactly what is going on on her end...all I can go by is what she's told me. Anyone have any ideas? Help would be appreciated. I've been using Paypal for almost 10 yers and this is the first time I've had trouble sending money. Thanks! ... View more

Paid off PayPal Buyer Credit w/ Balance but Limit ...

by KnightHawke Contributor in How to use PayPal (Archive)

I am absolutely LIVID. Several days ago, I scheduled a payment for my PayPal Buyer Credit to pay off the balance in full using $129.05 from my PayPal Balance. This was to be processed on 12/31. I checked my transactions tonight (1/1) and indeed, both my PayPal history and my PayPal Buyer Credit payment history say that this transaction has been completed. The $129.05 is gone from my PayPal Balance.   I need my full credit limit open for another transaction (Ebay). Yet when I went to pay for that transaction using my Buyer Credit, it shows that I still have to pay $129.05 before I have the full Buyer Credit balance available. What is going on here? My Buyer Credit statement shows that the $129.05 was received at 5:09:09 PST on 12/31. If payment was received, then why do I not have my full Credit limit available now?   Does the fact that banks were closed for the New Year perhaps have anything do to with this? If so, any idea when I can expect my credit limit to be available? And if not, then what do I do? It's like my $129.05 just disappeared. NOT happy. ... View more
