Hi there Bats,
To be honest, this happens from time to time and customers may receive emails from 'PayPal' advising that there has been a payment credited to your PayPal balance. Upon checking your PayPal account, you would then not see any evidence of a payment being received in to your PayPal account from this buyer.
You would then be advised that the payment will not be credited to your PayPal balance until you provide a shipment tracking number confirming where the item has been posted to and then delivered. My best advice would be not to post the item out to this person unless you can definately see the payment in your PayPal account.
Even if we had the payment on hold, you would see the transaction in your PayPal account and you could then post the item to the address on the transaction details page.
If you have received emails claiming to have been sent to you by PayPal, you can forward the emails that you have received to spoof@paypal.com and then delete the emails from your email inbox. We would then review the emails that you have sent to us and let you know if they were sent by us or not.
I hope this helps,
David.
