Maybe you understood that person's post in your context without giving it a thorough read. He states : "How do you report a scam artist that preys on others that claims to sell parts on the Facebook forums" and "If I can't get my money back I want to at least warn others of this person" These are actions outside the realms of PayPal.  We are talking about prevention of a scam - that is the initial advice he was seeking and I gave my 2 cents based on that. Once the person is scammed, that's when PayPal is to be reported to, we all agree on that and that is common knowledge. But I reiterate, the post was more inclined to find ways to prevent that scammer from going ahead with more scams (prevention). My own case has me at the mercy of PayPal and hence I reached out to the community as there seems to be spaces/void in communicating with Paypal about my case effectively. The customer service agents understand a point, the dispute team does something contrary. They closed a case without thoroughly going through the evidence provided to them. I had to re-request the claim and reopen the case. But that is a different concern. ... View more

I doubt PayPal has any concern or available resources to aid in nabbing scammers and thieves. Your best route is getting all the information about said scam artist together, get details on their whereabouts and other essential information . Once you have all of this, get testimonies and details from the victims and their account of being scammed. After which, contact his/her local police department's Cyber crime section and present your findings. This seems like the most impactful approach with sound results. Also seek out Facebook groups that highlight scammers and thieves. Mark his postings as scam on FB to deter him further. ... View more

Yes to all the questions sir. My concern is that about whether the seller can claim he received something other than what he had sent(claims to). The seller is methodical and has gone lengths to try and cover his scam. ... View more

Safest way to ship item back to the seller/scammer

Hi all, Post investigation, Paypal's decision requires me to ship back the crap that the seller had deliberately sent me instead of my items. I do not expect the seller to provide a return label so will ask the hub(a forwarding company) to do this for me, at my cost. I anticipate the seller is going to try another trick and claim the wrong items were sent back to him/ or something along those lines. He's messaged me via Facebook. Since the item was received by my hub in the US and will be shipped back by them, I'd like to know what is the safest way to conduct this? This is my first time having to deal with this so please do advice. ... View more

So I was informed that I have to return the package back to the seller in order to receive a full refund. Which is fine except that the scammer/seller messaged me saying he is expecting all his items back-  This reverse trickery doesn't bother me until when he will tell Paypal that he received the wrong items.  I'd like to mention that the package is with my handling/forwarding company based in the US. How to best cover myself further from this trickster's ways? ... View more

From my personal opinion, do not respond to the seller yet. Wait till Paypal has issued you the refund. After which, let the seller know that if they want the wig back, they will have to pay for the return shipping. Ship the wig once you have received the shipping cost. I would say your win here is a refund from PayPal and the threats they're issuing are out of desperation and losing out on $$, pay those threats no heed. There are alot of online retailers pretending to be global but they're running operations out of China and some of them are shady or extremely poor service. I've recently been scammed by a private seller who deliberately shipped the wrong items and have been fighting that case and mocking insults from the seller.  Hopefully PayPal does the right thing here too and I can have a breathe of relief and my money back. I wish your father good health and a swift recovery. ... View more

The first time I filed the case as Item received but not as described. I then got a notification that Paypal had changed it to item not received. 1 week later(today) I was denied the claim, stating that the item was delivered based on tracking. I filed another claim now, again under Item Not as described. ... View more

I had bought some items from a seller on a Facebook group. After making the payment, the seller ghosted me for sometime. Only after I opened a Paypal case, the seller responded with some harsh, racist comments and updated the claims case with a tracking. There was no movement in the parcel until 1 week after that. I am based outside the US and use a professional freight forwarding/ handling company for all my purchases. They updated me with the info of the parcel once it was received. The seller shipped Wetwipes instead of diecast model cars, which I had purchased. He had also blacked out his name from the label. I then notified Paypal via the claims that the items received weren't what I had paid for. They dragged this for long only to tell me that they have denied my claim as the seller had provided tracking. WHat sort of buyer protection is this? I have limited resources and work hard to earn. There is a group which highlights scammers and this seller's profile was mentioned as a scammer numerous times. I asked the Admin of the group to contact the seller to which he threatened her and her kids with harm. I even provided this info to Paypal but they still sided with him. Where's the buyer protection? 😞 Somebody please help. ... View more
