My brother in law, who shall remain nameless, was having money troubles. He had recently received a tax refund on a prepaid card. Unhappy with the daily cash limits, he decided to send me money on paypal, and request that i return it to him. As someone who was married to my sister i didn't see a problem. After numerous times, i suddenly started seeing chargebacks appear. Despite the fact that i linked the transactions i had sent back the money with, three of them have been resolved in favor oe the buyer, even though there was no product sold! What am I supposed t o do? PayPal refuse to reverse the transactions, because they were personal transactions, and because they were from my balance i can't issue a chargeback with the bank like he did. I do not even know the bank involved, so i cannot contact it and give my side of the story. If this is not resolved my PayPal account will be locked due to negative balance, and i will lose access to the paypal credit card that i DO have a legitimate balance and have been making payments on. Do i call my local police department? Try to escalate with paypal? Actual merchants have fraud insurance to deal with this. What recourse does a normal person have?
