Short Version Are there any REAL, TANGIBLE, [EXTRA] "advantages" to PAYING with a linked bank account, OVER AND ABOVE paying with a debit card? Long Version PayPal (the website), encourages me to link my bank account every time I log in. (I have always had a debit card linked for years) -- last night, a website crashed during a £1350 PayPal debit card purchase and now, due to the money being STUCK in pending, my bank balance is too low to try the payment again, (causing me grave inconvenience). On the back of that, I finally decided to complete the "Direct Debit Instruction" to enable payments to be made from my linked bank account. My reason is that in the past, I have never noticed a monthly Direct Debit doing the whole "pre-authorisation" thing and being held off-limits in [pending] for 5 days, so in other words - will paying with my bank account instead, prevent a similar inconvenience in the future? And are there any other benefits? (If not, why does PayPal want me to link my bank? Or moreover, why is the option even an option?).
