While most users will transact as Friends/Family, there are times where the sender may provide the payment to you as Goods/Services by mistake. Hi @OggieWoggie,   A mobile phone is needed to confirm log ins and for other security reasons. I understand there may be some concern with PayPal requesting a mobile phone number to create or continue using your account. PayPal is always looking to create a safer, more secure payment platform for our buyers and sellers. By asking to add and confirm a mobile phone on your account, this allows PayPal to help you service your account, send/receive payments (instead of just with an email address), and prevent/alert you of potentially fraudulent activity. If the phone number on your PayPal account isn't a mobile phone, we have the option for you to use our Interactive Voice Response (IVR) instead. You should normally be able to confirm your phone by clicking "Call you with a code" button, and a one-time password (OTP) will be sent over a voice call. If you have the same phone number on your personal and business account, the phone number on your personal account will need to be confirmed in order for you to log in. This is where any and all claims can be managed. Most claims begin as a dispute which is open for 20 days and allows a dialogue between the buyer and seller to be held in the hopes that you may resolve the concern together. The claim will close automatically after 20 days if the case is not escalated or closed by the buyer. Once a case is escalated, we will reach out to the seller once again to collect any additional evidence regarding the claim filed against them such as tracking or proof of delivery. Authorizations like this may sit pending up to 30 days within your PayPal account. After this timeframe, PayPal can and will cancel the authorizations. Cancellation of the authorization prior to 30 days, can only be performed by the merchant as they would need to void each one. Any payments received would be deposited into your PayPal balance and then could either be spent with other merchants who accept PayPal or you could withdraw the funds to a linked bank account.
