Wondering if two factor verification is costing PayPal too much so they’ve chosen to make it more insecure with it than without it. I’ll have to check if the one time passcode option is disabled when you disable two factor authentication. Can’t think of any other reason than money

I rang PayPal about this and the person claimed it was eBay that was doing this and not PayPal, which is **bleep**, eBay denied it of cause. Funny that I’m not offered one time passcode to log in here.

The best protection I’ve been able to come up with is to only have as much as you need for next purchase, in main account, and my backup account is a prepaid Mastercard from Austpost, which only has a minimal amount in it. Only slight problem is when I need to top up the Mastercard by bank transfer it takes 24hrs. I can go to post office to do it instantly without fees. There are instant top up options online but they come with a fee.

I spent time with PayPal with chat and they also eventually called me. She told me that that option doesn’t come from PayPal and that eBay adds it sometimes. Think she was **bleep** me, asked her why PayPal would let eBay do something that bypassed PayPal’s security, she stuck to her story.

I totally agree, one time passcode is a step backwards in security. Think I’m going to look for other payment options. I also use a prepaid Mastercard for sellers that don’t accept PayPal. Will consider dumping PayPal and going with prepaid Mastercard . Thanks
