Hello Hookedphisher   Your PayPal account does not have an account/routing number as we are not a bank and do not support direct deposits as of this time.  If the person/company who wants to send you money has a PayPal account they can send payments to your account by sending the funds to the primary email address associated with your account via the 'Send Money' tab.    KB ... Welcome azkateo   If there is not a claim surrounding this payment then it is completely up to you whether you refund the full amount or a partial.  I would encourage you to contact your buyer and work out a solution that works for the both of you so that you can avoid any further problems.  It sounds like you are trying to do the right thing and take care of your customer so I have a good feeling that everything is going to work out well.  Take care.   KB ... Hello RGUESS   It sounds like this transaction has been a less than desirable experience from the very beginning and I know how upsetting that can be.  Here is what has happened with your payment.   When you made your first payment via Instant Transfer, PayPal is actually fronting the money to the seller on your behalf.  This is done as a courtesy to you because it takes 3-4 business days for the funds to clear from your bank to PayPal even though you may see the money gone from your bank within 24 hours.  This way the seller gets paid right away and they can ship out your item.  We are reimbursed when your funds clear to us.   When the seller refunds an Instant Transfer payment before your funds have cleared to us,  then they are actually refunding the money we fronted to them on your behalf and we will place a hold on the refund. This is done because we need to ensure that the funds have actually cleared to us before we make the money available to you.  Your best option is to wait until those funds have cleared into your PayPal balance and then use that money for the new purchase.  You can initiate a new payment but that would mean that you would have two separate large payments coming out of your bank and you would then have to withdrawal the first one back once it cleared to PayPal.   I hope this helps to clarify the situation for you and I am hopeful that the funds will clear soon so that you can make your purchase and get that tv you were looking forward to receiving.  Have a great day.   KB ... Hello amytsai   It sounds as if you made your original payment via your bank account.  If this is the case and then the seller refunded that payment to you, then you will see the funds in your PayPal account and not your bank, within 3-4 business days of the original transaction.   The hold you are seeing is only there until the funds have cleared from your bank to PayPal as this is not an immediate process.  Thank you for being part of our community and I hope you have a great day.   KB ... Hello haanzie928   When an Instant Transfer is made via your bank account it will typically take 3-4 business days for the funds to clear to us.  PayPal does not get the money at the same time you see the funds removed from your bank. PayPal pays your seller out of our own money so they get paid right away and you get your item quicker, as we know we will not get our money for at least 3-4 business days.   When an Instant Transfer bank payment is refunded back to you, the seller is actually refunding our money that we fronted on behalf of you.  The hold you are seeing is only on there until we receive the funds from your bank which takes 3-4 business days.   Once the funds are received you will see a credit posted to your PayPal balance.  I hope this helps and I wish you a great day.   KB ... Hello cylint   This can definitely be a concern and I am happy to help you.  When you have a bank and a credit card on file, the bank will always be the automatic default for purchases and this can not be changed.  If you need to make a purchase using your credit card then before sending the payment, please click the 'change' link next to the specified funding source and you will typically be given the chance to select your credit card for payment.   This would have to be done on each purchase and I always encourage you to double check the funding source before sending the payment just to make sure the correct option is displaying.  I am sorry that you have had this experience but I am glad I was able to assist you today.  Take care.   KB ... Hello benjamin_life   As a new member I would like to welcome you.  An echeck is a payment in which the seller is notified that funds are on the way but they have not actually cleared to their account as of yet.  Normal clearing times are 3-4 business days from the date of the transaction.   If your bank declined our request for funds then we will make one more attempt to pull the funds and this is typically done about within 3 business days of the failed first attempt.  If the second attempt also fails then the transaction is cancelled and no further attempts will be made.  If the second attempt is successful then the seller will see the funds in their account and the transaction will be complete.   Please do not send any further payments until you are sure of the outcome of the first payment.  This will ensure you do not get billed twice for the same transaction.  I hope this helps solve to solve the problem and if you need any further help please feel free to ask.  Have a great day.   KB ... Hello Phil6   If the payment was not originally made through PayPal then the merchant can not use the 'Issue Refund' link.  The merchant can use the 'Send Money' tab to send you a payment with the intention of the payment being a refund.  In order to do this the merchant would have to have a PayPal account already established so I would encourage you to contact them directly to see if they have an account and whether they are willing to do this.  I wish you well and have a great day.   KB ... Hello PennaHunter   Welcome and I can understand your concern.  When you use PayPal there is a fee to receive money for items you have sold as there is a cost for PayPal to process the transaction.  You may not pass this fee on to your customer by surcharging them.  While I do understand that every little bit helps, a payment processor fee is a cost of doing business and if we receive reports of a seller surcharging their customers it can result in an action taken against the sellers account.    Depending on your payment volume you can apply for a reduced rate once your sales exceed $3,000 dollars per month as this will help to save you some money.  I hope this helps to clarify the situation and I wish you a good day.   KB ... Hello Virg   Welcome.  When a payment is over 60 days old it is not possible to refund the payment as the link is gone.  You can send the money back to your buyer through the use of the 'Send Money' tab.  You will just need to make sure you have their email address registered to their PayPal account to complete the transaction.  If you send the payment as a Personal payment and fund the transaction with either a balance in your PayPal account or by a bank transfer, the recipient will not receive a fee.   You may use the Personal payment option in this scenario as you are not purchasing anything from the other party, you are simply refunding them the money you owe them.  I hope this helps you and I wish you the very best.   KB ...
