Re: Currency Exchange Rates

Hello martin60   Welcome.  I can understand your concerns and I will explain why you may be seeing a discrepancy.  Anytime a currency conversion is performed by PayPal, you will have a 2.5% conversion fee applied to the transaction.  As PayPal incurs a cost to purchase foreign currency we must charge a percentage to cover these costs and this is why you will see a higher amount than what the published exchange rate may be.  This is very similar to the costs that a bank or credit card company would charge you if you were to convert funds with them.    KB ... Hello OSpizza   This can be confusing so I am glad that you stopped by to ask.  If you make a payment and do not have the funds in your PayPal account then we will typically go directly to your bank account for the funds.  We will pay the seller out of our own money (Instant Transfer) so that they get paid right away and then when your funds clear from your bank to PayPal that will be used to reimburse us.   If you do not want to use your bank then before completing the payment you can click on the 'change' link and select the credit/debit card to fund the payment instead.  In all honesty, it is not necessary to have funds in your PayPal account so provided you have the funds in your bank or on your card you can just complete the payment via either one of those funding sources and the payment will complete instantly.  I hope this helps to clear up the confusion and I wish you a good day.   KB ... Hello jamiefishing   You can send the money to your friend via their email address but to receive the funds they would have to open an account.  Depending on how your account is set up you can either withdrawal your funds to a bank account or you may have the option of receiving a check.  If you have a U.S. based PayPal account then you may be able to apply for the PayPal Debit card and if approved you can use it to withdrawal funds from most ATM's and banks.  Good luck on your upcoming sale and I wish you a good day.   KB ... Hello Tosh   Greetings from the U.S.  If you have the funds in your PayPal account balance then you could send the money to Alert Pay only if they also have a PayPal account.  If they have a PayPal account then you would need the email address associated with their account and then you could use your 'Send Money' tab to send the funds to them.   I am not familiar with this company though and if they do not have a PayPal account to receive the funds into then I am not aware of any other way you could send the funds to them.  I would encourage you to contact them directly to see what options they may have for receiving funds from a PayPal account.  I wish you the best and have a good day.   KB ... Hello zac1702   Thank you for your question and I am very glad you came to our community for help.  While I don't have all the details of this transaction, it sounds to me like this is a scam and not related to PayPal.  PayPal does not operate in the manner in which you have described this transaction.   We will never ask you to ship an item out unless you physically see the money in your account and we would not ask you to pay some type of shipping up front before releasing the funds to you.  The communications you are receiving may look like they are from PayPal but they most likely are just fraudulent emails.  We would also not take legal action against you for not paying so with everything you have stated I am very confident this is not a legitimate sale and I would not ship anything out.   If you have any of the emails you have been receiving you can forward them to our Fraud department at spoof@paypal.com for review.  I am sorry that you have had this experience but I am glad that you came to us for help before taking any further actions.  Have a great day.   KB ... Hello Dieterman   You can send money to anyone with an email address but in order to claim the funds they would have to open a PayPal account.  What happens is that you send the money to their email address, they get an email letting them know they have received funds.  They are then instructed to follow the directions to open an account to receive the funds into their PayPal balance.  It is a very straightforward process and a new account can be set up very quickly.  Thanks for your great question and I hope you have a great day.   KB ... Re: Money transfer doesn't show up in my bank

Hello sph   The reason it takes 3-4 business days to receive the money is because the bank does not transfer the money directly to PayPal.  When a bank transfer is initiated, it will typically take up to 24 hours or 1 business day for PayPal to request the funds from your bank.   Once the bank fulfills the request the money is transferred through the Federal Reserve otherwise known as the Automated Clearing House.  This is a process that typically takes 1-2 business days and once they clear the funds to PayPal we will then post the money to your account.  As we receive payments in batches it can take a little bit of time to post these funds to the individual accounts and all told this will take from beginning to end around 3-4 business days.   I hope this helps to clarify the situation for you as I know there is a lot of confusion about how the process works.  Thank you for being part of our community and I wish you a good day.   KB ... Hello myyummie1   Welcome.  In order to accomplish this you would want to click on the 'change' link found on the payment confirmation page.  When you view the page you will see an area where it shows your funding source that is being used and if it is not the one that you wish to choose then by clicking on the 'change' link you can choose your bank to complete the payment.   KB ... Hello jfn   PayPal accounts are country specific which means you can typically only add information that is consistent with the country in which your account is registered.  If you have a Canadian address but a U.S. PayPal account you will not be able to add your address and it would be necessary to open a Canadian PayPal account to accomplish this.  I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and I wish you a good day.   KB ...
