Hello i am very confused with payment holds on my account, i have been buying and selling now for about a month and have feedback of 45 at the minute, i rang paypal on saturday and spoke to a lady about this and she stated that when the two people that i had sent items to on friday had recieved there items and left positive feedback that the funds would be available but she also said that once this had been left there would no longer be payment holds on my account and that money would clear almost straight away. I recieved my feedback today on both items an was positive feedback so the money cleared as stated but the bit that baffles me is that i have other items that have sold which again have payment holds when will these ever stop or will it keep going as am fed up as when i have sold things i have to wait for positive feedback which is sometimes a pain because i have to mither the buyer by sending emails to them to get them to leave feedback. will these payment holds be lifted off my account??please can someone help me on this???

thankyou emma

 Hello, Emma,

Anytime you talk to customer service at PP or eB, get the CSRs name, so you can go back to them. Unfortunately, it may be she didn't know the funds would continue on other items to be held, OR it may be that the funds are really not meant to be held and they were just not released. With the hold on funds now for many eBay sellers, there is no way to know which of those you might fall within. I would first call back and state what you were told to see if you get the same answer. If you do, then someone there should lift the funds. Again, that is IF two people tell you the same thing.

But, if you look at the big picture and assume the first person did not give you the correct answer, then you can expect that you will print the label through Paypal so they will have the tracking number. You will find you are with funds from your back up funding, but within 24 hours the shipping amount of that same transaction will no longer be pending.

As far as the monies earned from the sale of the item, with Paypal having the tracking number you received when you printed the label, they will know upon receipt of the item. 3-4 days after that, the monies for the item itself are supposed to be released (no longer on hold or pending). This is not something new with Paypal as far as holding funds. It is only now affecting more sellers. You have done nothing wrong. You are still fairly new, and they want to see a track record. They do review, they state, every 35 days, but in that time you cannot have had a dispute, you want to be sure to ship using Paypal with the tracking number (not eBay shipping label), ship quickly for the faster you ship, the faster the buyer will receive the item and the faster your funds will be released. Also, you need to be sure you stay within the timeframe you put on the auction. If you put one business day, then do that. If you have two, ship in one or two. Do your best to get 5.0s and communication with your buyers is most important. Do all of that within the eBay messaging not your email. You want to be sure eBay can see any communication you have with a buyer if the buyer later disputes something you said.

It has been mentioned that feedback is necessary for the funds to be released, and I hope a moderator will see this and confirm what I am saying, but I do not think that feedback is a necessity as long as they have the confirmation of delivery.  I believe the study done shows it takes a couple of monthg for most buyers to leave feedback, and some never do. You are right about not wanting to ask a buyer too many times. That is opening yourself up for a negative for bothering them about a feedback. What I do is put in a thank you note and ask them to please leave feedback. Then, that leaves you the reminder within eBay to send. After that, I would leave them alone.

I know this is a lot, but if you are new, you need someone to help you to know what is going on. You must not take the hold personally nor join a complaint forum like you will find here. Many who have sold on eBay for years, including me, have and have had holds placed on their funds. Complaining here is not going to change anything, and whatever you do, do not let the worst ones convince you not to sell on eBay. You will be just fine if you do everything the way it is supposed to be done and be consistent with your listing.

If you have anything you would like to ask of me, if you would like it to be private, look in the upper right corner and there is an envelope icon. Just email me there, and I will do my best to help you. I have been a seller on eBay for 8 years, have been a Power Seller until the economy changed, am pretty sure I know why I had a hold on my funds, but they are now without a hold, and I feel I know the answer to that as well.

I hope this helped you.
