Payment not recognized?

I just paid for an ebay auction using paypal- received the receipt saying I paid- but it is not showing as paid in My Ebay or on the auction page. any ideas why?

If you have verified that you paid via PayPal, you can mark the item as "payment sent" via your My eBay page. 

As to why this occurred, this is likely a connectivity issue with the eBay checkout process.
