Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

i fully suport a forum or verification process by seller/buye.both can benifit by seeing good ect history.i do not sell ebay,ha,they dont trust me because i wont give them my phone# to confirm acount so im loyal www.etsy.com and wont even throw my store name, but is reassuring to be able to weed out some instant reconized scams, and if i could just ask you if you think so and so is good costomer.bad taliking or not if you say he is a camera scam i at least am smart enogh to think about it.etsy provides this option and ebay probably does i dont know, but paypal is were we are and so paypal oes not, rovide an inhouse all acess forum that im aware of besides here and i actually just poste most of the main problems of comunity on a paypal costumer survey, about bad untrustworhty costomer suport on buyer seller resolutions and emails of valid proof of scams/theft bieng denied aceptance by paypal.i as you may tell like to wrie and took up no less space actually x3 to apypal this morning,AND I MIGHT GET 1000$ha,peace

Exactly why I'm out of here. I'm finished for good with Eb*y's hideous fees and ridiculous rules. And I'm fed up with paypal not allowing us to do what we want with our own account ...in the name of "safety". Everyone else would be better off to do the same, before you have a disaster in the bank like we have. Soon as my new round of waiting for 30 days is up, I'm closing the account, and hopefully I'll actually be ABLE to do it this time. Good luck to you..but I'm keeping control of my own money and going back to old school.

Even if you take the money out of paypal as soon as it goes in then the next sale you have they will keep that money.

I have the same issue. And now i'm scared about it. it's been 3days and i don't know why paypal is holding on to the money. I shipped all the items and added a tracking number for it but i haven't heard back both from the buyer and paypal and if the buyer recieve my item and file a despute then i'm **bleep**ed. When my item arrived to that person and decided to file a despute then that person can take the money back instantly plus that person has the item that i sent. PAYPAL you need to make an action. I don't know what's gonna happen to the money that you guys are holding on to. Tell me what should i do?

I just got an e-mail from Paypal saying that a dispute that the buyer did not open was now closed and funds were reversed (meaning even though I have e-mails from the buyer saying he recieved item and is happy with it I still do not get paid). Very nice. How do you protect yourself from this???

Yes, This is very frustrating.
I bought a bass clarinet for my daughter. I received an email from the seller that they have not received funds and there is some dispute on my part.
I went into my email and found that my transaction had been held by paypal for verification on my account.
I had to reverify my checking account and credit card. Then I had to answer a bunch of multiple choice questions. Where I lived. How old my father in law was. Where my brother owned property. Previous places I have lived. There were multiple choice answers..Including most of the time an accurate one.But one time a 'none of thee above'.
I also had to reset my password.
Now it says its waiting for response from seller???
I am trying to call PayPal while my husband and I are both here at the house together, cause his name is on the account as well. This is rare since he works afternoons..I work days. Paypal is not open for calls.
OMG..I am frustrated.
How long is it going to take to pay this seller....I feel terrible...I paid 30 seconds after I won the item..now this.
I want this money cleared. I want this instrument for Christmas.

OK..I just posted on the same problem. I called Login, Click "Contact Us", Click "Customer Service Center". Got transferred a few times, but they were very friendly. It took me about 20 minutes but they asked a few questions and fixed this problem, and released the hold. I haven't heard from the selller that it is fixed yet. But if there is still a problem I will leave another post.

Add me to this list.
I made a sell via Ebay a few days ago. The buyer claims the item was damaged by USPS, and is trying to obtain an insurance claim from them. I paid for the insurance. The problem is the buyer is also stating that if USPS doesn't come through with the insurance claim, I should refund his money, including delivery charge. I've already spent the money from the sell, so Paypal listed a debt on my account for the now frozen purchase price.
So basically, I made a legitimate sell of a perfectly operational product, from a bid that clearly stated no returns accepted. This buyer, who admits the damage occured via USPS, is now proposing to send me back a damaged item, which was in perfect condition when I mailed it, and receive his money back, so that I'm left with an unsaleable/unusable product. And Paypal is holding my money for this?
I'll tell you what, I'm different than most of you here because I know I'm not governed by Paypal or Ebay, user agreements be damned. They don't make the final decisions when it comes to my money. I will not be the victim of theft and corruption, which is what this has the potential to become. I will enthusiastically take Paypal to small claims court and provide the judge with all the details. Any person with common sense will see that I am in the right. So, let Paypal continue down this path with me. I use to sue people for a living, so I'm very adept at providing what small claims courts need.
My advice to everyone, do not accept Paypal corruption. They are not judge and jury here. Small claims court is specifically for the little guy (like you and I) and will almost always rule in favor of the plantiff if you know how to present the correct paperwork and narrative.
I will get my money back. Stay tuned.

Complaints: I have come to the conclusion that ebay and paypal are only for the buyers. I am going to go to ecrater. They are free. I also have a google checkout account. I understand the fraud issues out there, however, the biggest miscarriage of justice here, are buyers who are filing fraudulant claims, using negative feedback as blackmail etc. Nope, I'm done with this. Blujay is also a good place to go. We are also at Bonanza but no sales yet. ebid is ok too. Too many other places to go. The big corporations have taken over ebay. No more mom and pop like the founder intended. It's all been a nightmare for me. They force you to send the items before you get your money. I didn't sign up for that. I don't approve of that and if that's how they are going to treat sellers who provide the products, especially, the moms and pops, I don't want to do business with folks like this. ebay has gone down the pooper many years ago. Buying paypal sealed their fate and ours.
