Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

If it makes anybody feel any better about the hold . . . I've been selling on ebay since 1999. My average monthly sales are around $4000 per month. That number has slowly but steadily risen over the last 5 or 6 years so there's been no drastic change in sales or listing numbers. I have over 5500 feedback at 99+% for used items, which I consider great. I've never had an unresolved dispute and not even a resolved dispute in the last six months. BUT I am on the 21 day hold as of last week. Like so many others, I've called in and cannot get a reason. Just because they want to!

Hearing more and more people tell their stories about how Paypal is grabbing their money for 21 days doesn't make me feel better! I want to stop!
STOP using Paypal! If enough people leave, Paypal will change it's policy or go under. In this financial climate, customer service matters more than ever. Paypal's utter disrespect for its customers, combined with its sleazy and unethical business practices, inevitably will make it vulnerable.
And the sooner the better, in my view.

Hey terese why don't you start the movement and leave PayPal? lol you won't get enough people to leave PayPal to even cause a dent in their business.

Once more and for the final time. PayPal only does the 21-day hold nonsense with eBay. NOT with the other selling sites. Red is right. Far too many people use PayPal because they are not just a money transfer system for eBay. Thay's how they started out. And Terese2 you shouldn't close your PayPal account. Just do like you're doing and don't use it with eBay. As I said a long time time ago, it's eBay how's being a PITA and not PayPal.

Are you sure about that, Djten? I swear there have been people on this forum who have said that their money is being held for 21 days, and they are not talking about Ebay sales. I have no experience with that, so I cannot say for sure.

But my account is on hold, and I have not used it for ebay since this past April. I started a side business installing gutters this past February, and offered Paypal as a payment option to customers that happened to have a Paypal account. Everything was going great until this hold happened. I have never had a problem, or dispute or anything. I can't afford to have my money tied up for 21 days - there's no way. I need the money to be able to purchase supplies for my next job. It is not as if I have to offer Paypal to my customers, it was just nice to be able to.
So for me - this has nothing to do with eBay. It is a completely different situation, yet with the same end result. I can't use Paypal anymore.
I had even had a "We Accept Paypal" sticker on my truck and had it printed on my invoices. I had to scrape off the sticker and take it off the invoice template too. I used to love Paypal - I still hold out hope that they will come to their senses.
After what has happened with the credit downgrade and the stockmarket, however, I wonder how much of this is just them trying to make some money off of interest until things calm down. The timing is suspect, in my opinion.
