HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I appreciate you explaining all this to me. However, my bank has been linked since 2007. I have sold over 500 items in the past 3 years with a rating of 99.4%. I think I don't sell enough to make eBay a lot of money and it's easier to cater to the Power sellers and delete the smaller sellers to cut down on accounting and other costs. This is a good way for us to stop selling here. Meanwhile I'll wait till the whenever it is they release my money.

I've been selling on ebay for awhile and Paypal are still with holding payments from my buyers until either feedback is left or 21 days pass since the date of purchase. I have sold almost 30 items but only 14 buyers have left their feedback so far! So most of my Paypal balance is still 'pending' and I can not use it! Can anyone tell me how much longer I will be subject to these payment holds for? I've emailed paypal and all they keep replying with is: "we will hold your payments for 21 days or until feedback is left." I know this! What I want to know is how long it will be before I can just receive my payments normally without them being held?! Thanks 🙂

I didn't read all 280+ pages of comments, but has anyone discussed fraudulent buyers? A very close friend sold an item on eBay to someone overseas. Buyer received the item, complained it wasn't as stated and asked to return it. Shipped the package back to the seller with a tracking number...but....get this.... the box was empty! Papal and eBay credited back the buyer and he made out like a bandit! As far as they were concerned the item was returned because they had a delivery confirmation number, it didn't matter if there was actually anything in the box. My friend is now out both the money he sold the item for, and the item and there is nothing he can do about it?
How is this fair to the people that keep PayPal and eBay's door open... the sellers?!?
Buyers don't pay fees- sellers do! Why treat the people that use the services like kings, and the people that pay for the services, the sellers, like dirt?
It's time we stand up for ourselves, and hit eBay and PayPal where it hurts- in the wallet!
I'm done with this craziness. It just isn't worth doing business on here anymore.

I hadn't been selling on eBay for over a year and this is all new to me. I just started selling again in January (2011). I have almost (not quite) 200 feedback, all 100% positive. Of the 20 items I sold the 3rd week of January, I've been paid by 18 buyers, all within the last week. All that money hit my PayPal account and I was able to move it,and received confirmation from PayPal that it was sent, to my checking account, today. Does this mean they'll hold it for 21 days THEN transfer it?

Everybody Ive sold to loves me.100% positive feedback.Sold over $5000 worth of stuff in the last month to over 30 people with all quite satisfied, including a $3000 item. All very quick shipping, within 2 days. How does pay pal reward me for making them money?Suddenly decides that I can no longer move money back and forth quickly thru my buying/selling by putting on a 21 day hold, effectively cutting off my cash flow and shutting down my business.Thank you Pay-pal,brilliant operational skills..

But the truth is that the way they make most of their money is by using other peoples money in the time honored scam of take and hold. You see when you sell an item pay pal takes its cut as soon as you are paid. Then they hold your money in their account, earning interest on it until they decide to release it Now while they get their cut instantaneously, you must wait 3-4-5 days,or the infamous 21 days, after you request your money to actualy recieve your money, even though it should be as instantaneous as they get theirs. In the meantime, they get the interest on your money(multiply by millions of customers)..

I know what you mean. I had an auction close Jan 18, it was paid for the same day, I got positive feedback the 24th and still have not had money released. I know from previous experience ( and the inability to easily find anyone to contact at paypal) that while our funds earn interest for them they are not quick to resolve any SELLERS problems. If we could put on a mask and present ourselves as buyers they would answer or resolve instantly. I don't think they have the concept that the more of us that leave because of these issues the more they lose and turn to the foreign bulk sellers. Face it friends - we are the expendables.
