HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

  Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds,not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I had the same problem, payment pending.  This was my first time ever encountering this through paypall. I recently sold 2 items to the same buyer.  The buyer payed for the items in a timely manner and to my surprise paypall had a payment pending on my account.  The information paypall gives in regards to procedures on how funds should be release is indeed ambigious.  I have a 100% feedback and I couldn't understand why paypall would do this to my account.  I was hesitant at first about sending the items to the buyer in that the funds were still pending.  I waited the alloted time paypall asked for release of fund, nothing.  I went ahead and sent the items to the buyer and kept my mailing confirmation number (this is very important piece of imfo to have) and called the 1-888 number customer service line.  I guess if you print out the shipping label through ebay ( with confirmation numbers) it automatically gives paypall the tracking number for the item.  Once buyer has received the item, its shows paypall that the item was received; then paypall will release the funds before the 21 days or before the positive feedback. Which ever comes first. But for sellers that do not use ebay for shipping and you have a payment pending, just call the 1-888 number service line under disputes option and give them the shipping tracking number and they will release the funds immediately.  By the way when I asked about them paying us interest for holding payments, they had no comment....  Hope this helps.

Right after I posted I was still reading some of the articles and found this vitriol attack on eBay by a former buyer--pretty much lays it out.  Entitled:  Why is the “eBafia Don” trying to kill eBay?

I found it at http://www.auctionbytes.com/forum/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=6502877 It is a long article but definitely worth a read as this person spent a great deal of time digging into all of ebays transactions.  so many I was not aware were happening.

Very, very interesting reading.  It's amazing just how bad this whole thing is.  Thanks for posting this link.  I, for one, and extremely glad I took the time to read it.....I can tell you there will be no more selling on Ebay for me, thank you.....

My mouth dropped open after reading this article--it is amazing isn't it.  I could not believe the way eBay has been conducting business for years..  Shilling bidders--amazing. Glad you read through it but I knew you would:)

I hope others who think that eBay/PayPal is still the best place to auction and is ethical you really need to read this--in fact I hope all interested read it--eBay's business practices have been off the chart for years.

    Hey Fem, you always say to me "Way to go...", when I shut down posters with silly comments. but you definitely provide the "BROWN-BOMBER KNOCKOUT PUNCH" with some of these links!! And if this one you just posted doesn't floor people then I don't know what will!! (But then again you still have Paul and The Dude still lurking around out there). Anyway, I only read the first 5 paragraghs or so because I'd just come in from work and was a little tired, but JESUS CHRIST!! And it's funny how Diann had  made that post a while back about how she thought eBay was a front for processing illegal funds. I could tell that people were starting to think she was a little nuts, and that's why I quickly defended her with my comparison of Robert Vaughn and "Black Moon Rising". I wonder if she still monitors these boards, because I think her jaw would drop too if she read that link!

    This without a shadow of a doubt proves it! And once again as both agree, that new posters need to take the time and try to backtrack to some of the previous posts.  But this one here about "The eBafia", and shill billing is totally off the map!! And this further backs up some the words I used to use like "Big Bucks", and "This isn't a monopoly game!". I will definitely find time at work to get more into this! But all in all, it's really not surprising.

ACTUALLY, I DON'T MONITOR THIS SITE MUCH ANYMORE.  JUST CAUGHT MY ATTENTION THIS MORNING BEFORE DELETING THE MESSAGE.

QUITE TIME AGO I WORKED AS AN ACCOUNTANT AT A COMPANY & FOUND A SIMILAR SITUATION.  I DID REPORT IT & I WILL NEVER PUT MYSELF INTO THAT POSITION AGAIN.  I HAD TO MOVE & STILL DIDN'T FEEL SAFE.  I QUIT BEING AN ACCOUNTANT & LEARNED A LOT OF SOFTWARE PROGRAMS & SPEED WRITING TO WORK AS AN ORDINARY OFFICE ASSISTANT.

THIS IS SO COMMON ANYMORE, & WHY THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T DO MORE I CAN ONLY GUESS.  PRSONALLY, I DO BELIEVE THAT SOME GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS GET PAID NOT TO STAY ON THE PROBLEMS.

YESTERDAY, A FRIEND INSTALLED DRAGON NATURALLY SPEAKING ON MY COMP.  I JUST NEED THE MICROPHONE,  MY HANDS ARE SO NUMB THAT TYPING IS DIFFICULT, & I CAN BARELY SEE WHAT I TYPED.  THE DAY AFTER SURGERY, DURING PHYSICAL SURGERY, SOMETHING HAPPENED THAT FELT LIKE MY ENTIRE BODY WAS BEING RIPPED APART.  YOU WON'T GET HELP FROM THE HOSPITAL NOR THE PERFECT SURGEON.  ONCE HE HAD DONE WHAT HE FELT WAS ENOUGH TO VINDICATE HIMSELF OF ANY WRONG DOING, THEY CALLED A CAB.  THEY HAD ME STAND SIDEWAYS & GAVE ME A PUSH. I FELL ON THE SEAT ON MY SIDE & WAS DRIVEN 25 MIN. TO MY HOME.  NO SEAT BELT.  NO ORDERS FOR HOME HEALTH CARE OR ANYTHING.  MY 87 YR OLD NEIGHBOR IS FEEDING THE DOG., REDID THE CORSET THEY HAD PUT ON ME INCORRECTLY & MAKING SURE I AM FED.  A LOT OF WORK FOR SOMEONE THAT AGE.

HOPEFULLY, SHE WILL FIND WHERE TO BUY THE VOICE CANCELLATION HEADPHONE MICROPHONE TODAY.  I WANT A DETAILED LETTER READY TO BE DELIVERED TO AN ATTORNEY.  I WONT SAY WHO I AM PRAYING TO TAKE THE CASE, BUT SHE IS FAMOUS & IN L.A.  I DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANY MONEY, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED & PRAY THAT SOME AREAS CAN BE RESTORED TO FAIRLY NORMAL.  I NEED A WHEEL CHAIR BUT THE DR WON'T GIVE A WRITTEN ORDER FOR ONE. ok, so payment pending. wtf, i needed that money a week ago, and now i'm in debt becasue of it. w/e. i emailed paypal twice 5 days ago, no answer. i tried calling, automated service. i can't get anywhere on the automated service, so i tried again, this time it asks for my ssn. wtf. how do i get a real person on the other line? i seriosuly need that money, the guy got his package and the payment is still pending till the 21st.

On this page one of the options is to contact by phone check that box and then you should get to a page where your identity is confirmed and you are given a pin number that is good for an hour I believe and the phone number to call.

However I must warn you that PayPal India is no help at all but try and hope it works out for you.
