HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

I CALLED PAY PAL AND TOLD THEM THAT I HAD TO SHIP MY ITEM BUT THE ONLY MONEY I HAD TO SHIP IT WITH WAS THE MONEY THAT THE CUSTOMER HAD PAID ME TO SHIP IT WITH. SO THEY RELEASED THE FUNDS FROM ACCOUNT SO I COULD SHIP IT. THEY SAID THIS WAS A ONE TIME COURTESY THING.

Hi, not sure why you replied to my post-I was merely being sarscastic about the Dude saying he was through beating the subject to death.--I hope we can rely on him shutting up. I generally ignore him--I was not agreeing with him on any level.

I was replying to the post by surplusdealdude.  Instead of shutting up I would like to see an honest evaluation of the HOLD policy... It is wrong the way it is presently written!  If PayPal wants to protect the Buyers..... All well and good! I don't have a problem with that objective.  But there is no need to put it on the backs of sellers who have a proven track record.. They should have an apprentice program for new sellers or sellers who sell infrequently on E-bay.... IE HOLD THEIR FUNDS... Not ours.

I agree with you I just didn't like the way you snapped at me. I was merely trying to have a conversation.

Are you referring to me?  If so, don't recall replying to your post.. If I did, it was done inadvertantly and I appoligize.  It would be a very good idea to hit quote message when you reply to a post... Thus, avoiding confusion. 🙂

If you are seeking an honest evaluation of the HOLD policy don't hold your breath nor look for surplusDude or for that matter eBay/PayPal to provide the answers. The Dude will simply go on and on about how you agreed to the User Agreement and if you do not like it leave.  Paypal on the other hand does not feel compelled in anyway to have to provide answers as they simply do not care and also have the User Agreement to substantiate their policies.  The Dude likes to troll these boards and ridicule those of us who have been trying to support one another and in the meantime have managed to finally see our efforts in the filing of a major class action suit again eBay/PayPal contesting the validity of the User Agreement.  The Dude and others like to laugh about it but it is at least a proactive move and may just provide some answers.

For those who still wish to join the class action and/or read the full complaint that has been filed in Federal Court check letssuepaypal dot com.

I have been involved since Day 1 and have done my best when I have time to post all legal and financial news relevant to possible motives for these arbitrary holds--bottom line it is about interest on your held funds which you assign to PayPal in the user agreement  UNLESS you are in their money market and they cannot take your interest for that is why you are in the fund.  The interest on your individual held monies may only be pennies but multiply that by all of the holds and it is another increase in revenue for eBay and PayPal.

Also sellers should be aware that June 30th is the end of eBay's 2nd quarter for 2010 earnings.  They will need to release these figures generally around the 3rd week of July.  I have tracked the last two quarters and there is a similar pattern--eBay's figures are low but PayPal brings them into a very postivie postition which makes the shareholder's happy.  Holds generally start to increase again weeks prior to the earnings report being released.

In the meantime  you may want to check this link occassionally for updates on eBay's stock, business news and other information that is available on this website.
