HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them! Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds, not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

Okay, I'm now in a position where I can't ship the items I just sold because PayPal is holding my funds. So I do I fulfill the requirement of delivering the items and receiving positive feedback from the buyer, IF I CAN"T **bleep**ING SHIP THE **bleep** ITEMS.
Anybody interested in getting together a lawsuit? Anybody have any lawyer friends? There wasn't even a warning to me on this policy.

it is ironic that now some lawyer will make more money than we lose and Paypal will end up paying their lawyer to fight something that a good manager would have spotted and corrected in about 10 minutes.
I won't join the suit because I hate lawyers more than Paypal, but good luck out there....

Hey, we choose our battles. I don't like paying taxes for police to battle criminals but I do. So, if your hatred is more centered on laywers than thieves, then OK. I will however choose differently. Good Luck to both us!

What if you are getting paid for a service not an item shipped.. will the funds still be held?
How can I post feedback for something I did not something I bought?

The problem with that is I sold a dozen items. I shouldn't have to call Pay Pal 12 times to say items i sold were received. I feel too I am being punished because a lot of eBay users don't leave feedback or leave it promptly. My FB rating is only 12, but I have sold probably 40-50 items successfuly on eBay. So they get the stuff, don't leave Feedback, and suddenly now Pay Pal keeps my money, I am also forced to pay the shipping on the items myself, out of my own pocket, even though the buyer pays for the shipping in the money held hostage by PP. I had no idea this new policy was in effect or I would have NOT used eBay and PP to try to sell some items quickly and easily.
I looked at Pay Pal's hints to avoid this hold, and none of the suggestions really apply to me either.

@sandypurins wrote:PayPal will release the payment after 21 days, or... they may release the payment after the buyer leaves positive feedback or 3 days after PayPal can confirm delivery of the item. PayPal will confirm delivery if you use USPS, UPS or FedEx to ship the item and use PayPal shipping labels, or if you upload tracking information to PayPal via the transaction details page.

Just wanted to let everyone know, I did this and it worked! I entered in the tracking # from the post office, and within 3 days, I have already had most of my fuds released. I know it is an extra step, but if it is what we need to do in order to reach the mass market on ebay, I will do it.

It's nice to know that the use of tracking numbers helps release funds sooner. However, eBay encourages the use of the "free shipping" option, which I use in an effort to attract more bidders. But to keep my costs down since I'm already making very little profit, I avoid shipping options involving the extra costs of tracking and insurance. It's always worked out fine, never a single customer complaint (feedback over 1000, 100% positive). But while I eat the shipping costs to make myself a better eBay seller, now I am being penalized for not eating even more costs. This really **bleep**s with my finances, really insults me, and really makes me want to just give up.

LOL, okay, PayPal just made my chuckle by censoring a word in my last reply. And it wasn't even a swear word. I guess PayPal doesn't mind offending people with the new 21 day hold policy, as long as nobody is offended by language.
