HORRIBLE IDEA TO HOLD FUNDS FOR 21 DAYS!!!

  Holding funds from sellers until the buyer leaves feedback is the worst idea EVER! Since when does Paypal become an authority on buyer satisfaction?? A smooth transaction is all that I wanted from Paypal. If they are going to hold funds, then they should make it very clear BEFORE you use them!  Keeping my money in their account for 21 days is a HUGE disadvantage of using Paypal. Stick to transferring funds,not trying to be a satisfaction authority!

Also, don't bother emailing them. CALL them. I got a person right away today, even though she was not helpful. I have 12 more days to wait for my money because I cannot get the new ebay buyer (zero stars) to leave me feedback. My product was emailed, but an email from the buyer at time of the sale stating that she got it and was happy is not good enough. Proof of shipping is not enough for paypal. You must have proof of delivery. If no complaints, it will be released after 21 days. This is a load of poo poo and paypal knows it.

By reading this forum I can tell I am at the mercy of Pay Pal and Ebay. I have 90 transactions 100% Feedback and no claims against my account. I have 39 transactions in the last 30 days. I got an email saying there will be tempoary holds on my account. I sold 9 of the same item in a 1 day auction all with in 30 minutes of each other. I can't get the morons at Ebay or Pay Pal to give me a reason why this has happened. I understand scams and safety precautions, I don't understand lack of communication. Don't just put a hold on my account and when I want to find an answer I am ask to read the Policy on payment holds. When these transactions from yesterdy leave their positive feedback and I have 100 transactions will Ebay and Pay Pal treat me like a valued customer? I see in my held money they get their fees.

Who can you talk to that can fix these problems. I do well on ebay and can deal with all of the fees, I can't deal with the BS though.

They send surveys every other day that I blow off and buy reading this forum it looks like they are just computer generated and ebay and pay pal could give a care less.

Hi I had 130 feedback all positive with 4.9 5.0 on my ratings. As well as being a top rated and power seller and I get an e-mail from pay-pal telling me the same thing. They also added that I was to understand that nothing I had done or had not done was a factor in this decision to do this. I contacted pay- pal and spoke with one of their robots who continually read me a line of their policy bull. Seeing that I was not getting any were with this moron I asked to speak with a manager. The manager tells me that he can see no reason as to why they did it and did nothing at all to help me. I set back and thought about what possible reason they could have had to do this and I could only come up with one reason. GREED. 21 days times so many million accounts at x amount per account. Thats a lot of interest they make on our dime while it sits in their account. Needless to say I felt the same way the rest of you do MAD AND FRUSTRATED . I logged onto E-bay and cancelled all my auctions and in my mind **bleep** them I was done with E-bay. Almost two months go by with no activity at all on my account and I received an email from these idiots telling me "Because of the way you have handled your account we are lifting the hold on your money" Whatever!! thats all fine and well but after 60 days of a break from this bull I realized what a slave I had become to E-bay and was happy that it was over. I still list on E-bay a little but I really understand how much E-bay needs us the seller more than we the seller need them. **bleep** E-bay!!!! Something better will come along one day and I will be with the multitudes that jump ship.  I think the only answer is to quit selling on E-bay and wait it out. If enough sellers do this they may change their policy.

I am pretty much at a loss for words. To read that some people here who have over 3000 feedback and 100% positives are having their funds held as well. The payment hold on my account has happened twice. Once before the summer, then was released after several, very high priced, and high end items, everything went smoothly. The payment hold was then released. Not five days after a 1000.00 transaction took place, and immediately, paypal put a hold on 'future' payments recieved, that was two months ago. I have never had a negative left, have never had any disputes open as a seller, and never have had any complaints from ANYONE.

It makes it extremely hard to do business with paypal, which in my circles is now the industry standards for payment and or deposits and the 21 day hold just doesn't make sense, as several buyers either dont care to, are too busy or forget to leave positive feedback. That is such a slap in the face, after packing the item well, getting it out as fast as I can, and providing tracking to the buyer and paypal, that I have to stil wait maybe 21 days to see the funds available.

But that's their rules, and its a service which I NEED TO USE. So we can grip all we want to but the bottom line is, we don't like it, well dont use it. Sad, but it's true. We are merely incidentals in the larger picture here.

I have done over 10,000 on ebay the past year easily, and I still have funds held in a pending balance, and In the next few months I want to use paypal for over 5000 dollars worth of transactions, a majority of them off ebay transactions, and now I am stuck between having to wait the alotted time, or take checks.

Some of you have it easy. On my account they have placed a 60 day hold on 20% of each transaction. There is no logical justification for this. The bottom line is that they are looking for free money.By placing a hold on our accounts they are getting free loans of up to 20% of their cash flow to use for investment or other purposes. This is reprehensible behavior and shows a total lack of respect for their customers. This type of monopolistic exploitation is exactly why the US passed the Sherman Antitrust Act and other protections against corporate abuse. Of course today the US government doesn't care about customers, it's bought and paid for by large corporate interests, so we will get no relief. I'm surprised I have heard of no class action suit against Paypal for this activity. And on top of it, the former CEO of this company is now running for governor of California! Is this the type of anti-consumer thinking and behavior we want from our governor? What a B***TCH.

We can all be assured that Paypal has people reading all these posts. They know what we think about their policies, but they just don't care. As long as they're getting free money and have their quasi-monopolistic power, they're not going to do anything for us. The only option is to stop using them and insist on paying by credit card when you buy on eBay. That's what I do. It's easy to set up a merchant account to take credit cards too, just call PPI - Payment Processing Inc. I'm closing my Paypal account after my current holds are released. Up yours Ebay.
