Credit Card refused

I am a developer for a new client- I recommended that we use PP as the method of payment on their eCommerce site. I tested a CC payment and it worked fine.

Now the first live customer has their Mastercard rejected for payment. This was a known customer whose MC had been previously used on a sibling site via another payment gateway. Having been rejected by PP, the card info was run on the competing gateway- flalessly.

Having egg on my face, I need to know what is going on with PayPal- is it a solution for Credit card payments or not?

What happened that a good CC was rejected?

How am I to avoid this ongoing?

What do I say to my customer who now questions the decision to use PP?

I thought this is the PayPAl Customer Support site, but it has been several days with no response.

PayPal are you out there?

I need an answer for my client.

As you can see at the top of the page is says "

this is a member to member site.  Paypal employees (moderators) post here ever now and then and do answer questions some time.

You will probably need to call Paypal to see what the problem is

You have to check whether your paypal account is linked with American Express or not. Because, just for you to know that please don't ever add your american express credit card to your paypal account. It's a real pain in the ***. Reason being is because, since the amex credit card company and paypal do not have good relation ship, once there is a problem, then they won't be able to solve the problem for you fast enough. Therefore it's better to avoid using american express card especially for paypal before the problem occurs. You see, in my case, I have my amex card linked with paypal account and when ever I tried to pay for the item that i have bought on eBay using my paypal account, I could not able to complete the transaction. Since my account is linked with amex cc, I have always resulted the unsuccessful payment Page. I have tried a few times and the $ have been deducted from my amex cc for as many times as I have attempted and later, not only my ebay account has been striken with unpaid item case ,but also, it takes a few weeks to retain my credit back into my amex credit card account. It's a real pain. So that's why I would suggest u guys not using amex card for your paypal account,. If you have any past experience or whatsoever, pls share, Thanks
