When you buy something and you don't have enough money in your paypal account, it'll take the money from the back-up funding source, whether it's a credit card or bank account.

yes, but you have listed a pay source in paypal, that you will authorize to make a payment when you go to pay an invoice, such as your visa debit or a backup credit card if that doesn't work. At least that is my understanding

Wait does this mean we actually don't HAVE to wait the 3 business days for money to transfer over every time we need it? We can just pay with our paypal info - and it will take the money directly from our linked bank account?

Well this depends. If you have no money in your paypal balance, they may treat it as an echeck. In this case, your buyer will see that the payment has been made, but is waiting to be processed by paypal. But, also in the case of the echeck, you will need to wait until it clears for your seller to send you an item.

If your PayPal payment is bank account funded and has a credit/debit card backup funding source, your payment will be an Instant Transfer... PayPal instantly credits the recipient's PayPal account.
If your PayPal payment is credit/debit card funded, the payment will also be instantly credited to the recipient's PayPal account.
If your payment is bank account funded and does not have a credit/debit card backup funding source, your payment will be an eCheck which normally takes 2-5 business days to clear and be credited to the recipient's PayPal account.
