Transaction Fees - Booking in FC and Paying with the same

To help the community, avoid using Paypal for any foreign currency transaction when you will pay in that currency.  For example, if a hotel in Canada is booked in Canadian dollars and you pay in Canadian dollars with a debit card, PayPal will convert your booking amount (in my case to USD) and charge you for the conversion plus fees even though USD did not enter into the transaction at any time.  It cost me $112.43 (CDN) extra for the booking.  I filed a claim and was turned down, appealed and was turned down and the rational given ignored the claim details and gave me an generic jumble of words as the reason.

Paypal will never be used again for travel related bookings outside the USA, by me.  My advice is use it domestically only based on the country you are in.
