Send money to someone "in my contacts", but it wasn't his account

Hi,
I sent money to a friend of mine through friends and family. Had taken the account via in my contacts.
Now he tells me that this account does not exist. It only says that the money has been sent and not received. Will I get the money back or what happens?

If its saying SENT on your paypal account then it has successfully transferred to the email address you sent it to that is linked to an active and open paypal account.
So check the email address you sent it to OR the phone number to make sure they were correct.
Be careful of scammers that tell you to send the funds using the f/f option and then pretend they received nothing knowing you can't do anything about it as you have no buyer protection.

I have same issue. How do I find the email address or phone number the funds were sent to?
