Pending refund has disappeared

I had a refund accepted and completed on Monday this week, and shortly after this amount was showing on my cards balance as a pending transaction.

But by Tuesday evening the pending transaction has disappeared?

I have contacted the card provider who state that there is no record of the refund and nothing is pending waiting to clear?

What has happened to my refund?

If you funded the original Paypal payment to the seller from your bank account or a card then once marked refunded/completed it will automatically go back to that bank account or card.
Normally it can take a few days up to a week to go back to a bank account. Paypal say allow 30 days for a card (1 billing cycle) but its rarely that long.
(Can vary according to country though).

I get it can take a few days to clear etc. In the past it will show on the card account used as a pending transaction and then clear a few days later. But this refund was showing on my cards account as pending, but now there is nothing? just the original payment is showing. I've never had a pending refund transaction just disappear after 24 hours and the bank say there's no record of it
