I can't figure out how to send money from my paypal balance rather than my debit card.

I want to send money to a friend using my paypal balance, but it only gives me the option to use my debit card.  I don't know how to set it up so that I can use my balance.

Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > second down click on update next to your preferred way to pay and put a dot in one of the options listed.

Thank you for the detailed steps.  It still only gives me the debit card option, though.  It's very strange to me, because I know people pay with their balance.

Have you set up a balance account (the old paypal cash or cash plus accounts) to hold a balance? Can you see the balance in your Paypal summary page?

I do see a balance, but I don't know about a balance account.  If I see a balance, does that mean I have a balance account set up?  Thank you for your response!

Yes you should be ok, are the funds cleared and not pending and are they in the correct currency you want to send?
