How to disable entirely the automatic payment feature?
It is unacceptable that if i pay to an seller by PayPal, it will be automatically added to the active automatic payment list without my acnowledge.

I want to disable this PayPal feature permanently. I want always authorizing every payments. It is crazy that the seller can draw the money when he want!

Hi guys, Today i got a new crazy automatic thing from PayPal, it activated itself my Firefox as trusted, and will not ask for password, only rarely. Made without confirmed by me. At the end of the mail, eritten that if i dont want this, then i must login and disable this. If i doesn't read this mail and disable this, my PC allows to pay by anybody who  can use it. Why not ask me to confirm such an money related thing?
I paid for UPS shipping, and after this i got an email from PayPal:
"We've made it faster to pay with PayPal, Since we recognize this device, you'll stay connected for faster PayPal transactions. We may sometimes ask you to provide your password for certain transactions including purchases from new websites."

Come on PayPal, in this current environment of scams and phishing we need more protection not less.

I will be seriously reviewing other options for making Internet payments.

Because of this option, $1,000 of my money was stolen yesterday
PayPal must cancel or activate this option as desired by users
Because it is no longer safe to use PayPal to send and receive money

The solution proposed does not work.  The vendor can simply re-initiate a new automatic payment pipeline, and you will continue to be charged.  There has to be a way to permanently disable ALL automatic payments forever.  There is no situation where I would ever want a merchant to have the power to start  charging me arbitrary amounts every month without my knowledge or consent.  Why does PayPal allow this?

Come here to find a way to disable the feature and I was get surprised by reading that is not possible. All in all even cancel the payments isn't possible witch is also frustrating!  What the devil means "PENDING CANCELATION"?  So I start deleting all my cards and bank accounts one by one. Just left some expired for fun 😜

Maybe I will delete the paypal once and for all if I don't find a way to add money without saving my card. I hope in near future paypal reconsider and be friendly with buyers as it was. 😒

The problem I have with the automatic payment is I want to choose which account in my paypal wallet to use. The automatic payment uses the default payment account. I recently changed my default method to a different bank account and didn’t realize I had an automatic payment set up with a merchant until the order completed without me being redirected to PayPal to finish the payment. I immediately went to my PayPal account to check on the purchase and realized the payment was automated to one of my bank accounts. Luckily I was able to transfer money so the payment cleared, but this could really cause overdraft/nsf issues. The burden of turning off automatic payments shouldn’t be on us every time we make a purchase. PayPal should make the automatic payment optional to allow us to turn off/on.

It’s very obvious that you actually didn’t read my complaint because you included a link about the automatic payments. I understand how to change and delete this that’s not the issue. I spent 1 hour yesterday deleting 55 automatic payment merchants that I used for one time only purchases over a period of years for which I didn’t realize an automatic payment was set up. I totally understand it for monthly subscriptions, but these were merchants that I purchased an item, not services that I may never use again. Also several of these merchants have had security breaches which really highlights the security issues with the default automatic payment issue if hackers get our personal data. I’ve used PayPal for almost 30 years and had no idea that this was happening unless it was a monthly/yearly subscription. It’s very deceptive and wrong that we do not get a say that we want the automatic payment set up for merchants.

Hello PayPal__Jyoti,

Why are you making a fool of us?
Automatic payments cannot be turned on without our consent.
We simply don't want to PayPal dictating to us where our money will automatically go.

Best regards,
V

I agree with all the sentiments being posted here. Auto-renew should not be allowed. Companies can deceive us with trial offers and a week later we forget, maybe even deleting their software. Then a year later they take funds and if we have changed our email address in the meantime we will not receive notifications that they are going to charge us for a new subscription through PayPal. There needs to be a way for users to block auto-renew from certain buyers from their accounts rather than have to cancel the subscription with both PayPal and the seller before it is due. Some sellers are putting in place hurdles to make it difficult to cancel a subscription on their sites, so we demand extra ability to block them from taking our money in PayPal.
