How to change Currency conversion option

Recent changes to Paypal checkout process have removed the option I used to get to select Who converts currency. I prefer my Bank convert currency but the option is removed altogether and paypal charges my card in my local currency.

I see that the option to select who converts doesnt appear at all now during payment. I want to know if there is a settings I could change or some other way to by default let my bank convert currency for me.

Well very simple, ignore the problem as it is intentional, mark it as solved... that's it

Long time PayPal user, just signed up to community to add to this as I've been following the thread for a while now.

I think this is a real shame for PayPal to remove currency conversion options, as I make a lot of payments other than my own currency.

I am now resorting to using my payment card directly instead of PayPal as I won't be charged the conversion rate, which is a shame as I used to use PayPal for everything, but now I can't afford to lose the rate on my big payments of thousands etc, the conversion on that is a big deal.

Hope that this feature is brought back, as I like to use PayPal for all my payments whenever it's possible.

yeah this is **bleep**. my card that was set to automatically use the card for currency conversion expired so I had to replace it just to find that the option no longer exists.

I too made a handful of accidental 4% exchanges when my card is a 0 exchange fee card

Nope. Not a chance. Musk owns Ebay which owns PayPal. It's not in PayPal's interest to bring this feature back.

What I also noticed is PayPal is going overdrive to deny many credit cards from being added to your profile.  I guess we still have Amazon.

@Reprobate Not going to happen. How are you able to bypass PayPal though when buying on Ebay you have to use them even if you use  your credit card?

Why not just let you choose currency per Credit/Debit Card, like amazon?  I use PayPal for payments in companies in the US that do not allow foreign cards, and for recurring payments I do not have a chance to login to PayPal to correct the currency.  Just lost 10% on a double FX.

Will PayPal provide this simple service?

Because this is lost revenue for PayPal.

It's not revenue, it's stealing

Paypal have been thieves from the beginning with the currency conversion issue, charging 4-5% instead of the usual <2% charged by credit cards and now even worse by disabling access to the default conversion option. Unless forced by regulation or VISA/MASTERCARD they will not go back.  I avoid paypal unless I have to pay an even shoddier company! Shame!
