Disable Guest Payments through Links

Part of my business receives orders through the website. Through the website, it seems possible to require users to log in and not pay as a guest.

This is essential, as we generally get seller protection with logged-in users. With guests, we don't. It's our first line of defense against scammers.

However, the majority of our clients prefer to discuss the details of the order and place it directly through me. If I create an invoice, they will either receive a link through me, or through their email. However, using this link, they can pay without logging in. Meaning that I'm void of seller protection.

So the option is to refund them, and let them replace their order... However. PayPal no longer refunds the 5% PayPal Fee. That's an instant loss.

This seems a total disregard for sellers on PayPal's end. So the question is, how can I disable guest payments altogether? It seems that there isn't any.

Hello @Cristina4321

Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum! I can certainly understand why you'd like to turn the option to pay as a guest off for your account. You should have the option to adjust this setting in your website preferences under the PayPal account optional heading. When the "account optional" feature is turned on, customers don't need a PayPal account to make a purchase from you. If it is turned off, they will not be able to check out as a guest.

I hope that helps!
