I'm on the :Lulu.com website buying a batch of books. The option that I need to use to checkout is Paypal (I have no other way of paying for these books)
When I use the Paypal option a black box appears with a lock in the centre and a rotating circle around the lock. The rotating circle just goes on forever.
A message appear on the transaction page:
Unknown
Your payment authorization failed. Please verify your information and try again, or try another payment method.
I have cleared cookies and tried this again, I've also used a different device. Neither have worked.
I have logged into Paypal and everything looks fine.
I would like help in being able to complete the trasaction using Paypal.

This might be a long shot, but I had an adblocker on my web browser that was causing the same thing to happen, and upon disabling the adblocker, the purchase went through no problem (I buy books on Lulu, too). Adblockers are a godsend, but they can cause problems with digital payments sometimes.

- Yes, there's enough there.
The situation is that I never use a card or bank account, only the papal balance which is always topped up before spending. This may be unusual.
I'm operating the Paypal account on behalf of a charity who top up the funds s needed so I never have to worry about bank accounts etc.
I hope this goes someday to explaining things. If you can hep further I'd appreciate it.

ok, paypal only convert funds if you pay via a bank account or a card.
If you are using funds in your paypal balance then they have to be in the currency the recipient is requesting which would be the euro.
So you can convert the funds in your balance and then try to pay? (Fees will apply).
However you can only use funds in your balance for a while and then paypal would expect you to add and confirm either a bank account OR a card to verify your paypal account. You would not need to use those funding sources as you could still use your balance but would need to select your balance as your primary funding source on your paypal account OR change it to your balance during checkout.
Advice is voluntary.

The solutions came via a suggestion from @DuckTollerDog It looks like it was a block on cross-site cookies that was stopping the transaction.
