Cannot add money to my PayPal account as mobile number is erased from verification check

There is a new weird problem I am having with my PayPal account. Every time I ask to add money to my PayPal balance from my registered debit card, it asks for quick security check with no mobile number and no phone number (other times there was a mobile number listed BUT not this time). So I add the mobile phone number, MY MOBILE NUMBER, the same number already added to the PayPal account and was verified by text message. It complains that it cannot verify me or stops working or says something is wrong and "Try Again". It is acting weird and abnormal.

This seems to be some kind of technical glitch or bug. It needs to be fixed as I was going to purchase something and even add money to pay for monthly subscriptions but I cannot do that because it erased my mobile number and home phone number from the "Quick Security Check". So, it is making me enter my mobile phone number. I do that and then it fails as if it doesn't even work.

So, I can't verify with the very number I already verified for my PayPal account. Every time I try this, it fails. Yet when I select add money from bank account, it works with no problem but I have to wait five to six days with no guarantee that this transaction will go through without failure. So I have to wait at risk of if I add more it will over-add to my PayPal account than what I intended to add. This is frustrating.

Has any of you face this weird glitch where security check stops me from adding money and demanding I verify with no mobile number listed, then when I add my number it fails and says "try again". Sometimes showing nothing but a white page with nothing on it.

Just click NEXT to receive a text and ignore the 'add phone number' bit, what happens then?

It is blocking me from that. I then try to add my verified mobile number again and then it acts up and says Try Again.FireShot Capture 088 - PayPal - www.paypal.com.png

Then I add the number, it has a little green checkmark. Then I submit and it says there is an error. This is abnormal.

Can a PayPal account be hacked to prevent money from being added to it???

Could this be some unknown bank decline and it doesn't know how to handle this???

This doesn't make any sense. Some kind of technical glitch or error and I have no way of knowing what to do about this.

I have the same issue and it’s frustrating but you’re not alone. It seems to be an issue within the app. I’m running it on iOS and the problem started mid March for me. The only fix I have been able to use is to bypass the app and use your web browser to add funds to your account as that worked as intended for me with no security popup. Hope this helps until they fix the app!

      3. Clear browsing data, including cache and cookies.
      4. Restart your browser and try again.
  2. Use a Different Browser or Device
    • Switch Browsers: If you are using Chrome, try Firefox, Edge, or Safari.
    • Different Device: Attempt the process on a different device, such as a smartphone or tablet.
  3. Update Your Mobile Number on PayPal
    • Access Settings: Log into PayPal and go to the settings (gear icon).
    • Manage Addresses: Ensure your current mobile number is correctly listed and verified.
    • Remove and Re-add: If necessary, remove the existing number and re-add it, then verify it through the text message verification process.
  4. Check PayPal Account Security Settings
    • Security Settings: Ensure there are no restrictions or holds on your account by reviewing your security settings and notifications.
    • Update Security Questions: Ensure your security questions and two-factor authentication settings are up-to-date.
  5. Try Adding Money Through a Different Method
    • Bank Transfer: While slower, you can transfer money directly from your bank account to PayPal, ensuring you have sufficient funds for your intended purchase.
    • PayPal App: Sometimes, the mobile app processes transactions more smoothly than the web interface.

I have same issue.  Finally bypass it using phone number to login instead of email. It will ask for a verification code at the login time,  and will not generate this empty verification window when adding funds. I think it is a bug of system.
